He felt things for her, but in a way he couldn't explain. She gave him peace—like a river that had
been rushing, pulled by the current for too
long, simply; she was his safe place.

He wasn't sure how or when it started, but he was sure it was her eyes that made him fall for her. He liked her smile as well, when he would take her out in the woods, tell her a stupid story ( that she would laugh at ) and see her smile.

The thought of these two things could calm him down.

It wasn't just a phase or normal relationship, everyone could see that their bond was different,
special.

His mother, who was the only one person that knew what her son was. Aware of his nature she knew, and now seen that it was true—mates existed.

Everything was perfect. They even got married, they had thought that their perfect life has begun—but no, the two didn't have idea that the worse had just started.

The youngest Mikaelson, Henrik, had died from a werewolf attack.

Immediately, without a single doubt, in grief Esther Mikaelson decided to remake her children into bloodthirsty creatures—the first vampires in the history.

With her magic, as a witch, she turned the five of them into immortal, violent, stronger than normal human species.

She did not leave her son's lover out of the list—she had made a decision for her too. Again, with magic, the woman putted her daughter-in-law in a sleeping spell. But Esther didn't leave her without any power.

She would wake up as something more powerful even from her children.

The witch linked the girls life to the hybrid curse. The brunette will wake up when Niklaus broke his curse.

And he had tried over the years, many and many times, even he got other witches to help him, but nothing worked.

He didn't gave up on her, he couldn't. He tried again, again, and again then in the end, after five hundred years, he found a human doppelgänger again.

He had to break the curse.

And brake it he did.
