"So, um..." Marinette spoke softly, uncertainty laced in her voice. She rubbed her hands together as she stood in front of her home.

"Y-Yeah... good... goodnight," Adrien replied with the same awkwardness, rubbing the back of his neck and blushing just slightly. "... m'lady." He addressed hesitantly.

Marinette froze, heat making its way onto the apples of her cheeks. 'No, you can't call me that in public, you stupid cat!' She thought as she gave a small, awkward giggle. "Yes... G-goodnight, Adrien.'

She turned away to face the door that would lead to the back of the kitchen of her parents' bakery. She got out the house keys as she replayed the happenings of her and Adrien's night out together in her mind- their... date.

The blonde had been the one who planned the whole thing, and things had been a little awkward at first, but then they slowly slipped into their hero-selves- the personality they fall so easily into when they were behind masks and saving Paris as Ladybug and Chat Noir.

They had a pleasant dinner at some fancy restaurant, and spent some time at a carnival nearby. They had fun going at it at the claw machine, though they didn't win anything. Marinette was pretty sure those things were rigged anyways. They talked and chatted a lot by the river, admiring the view there and the night sky. Marinette felt a smile tug at her lips as she recalled them sharing ice cream and laughing together.

And yet, the blunette felt disappointed, somehow. There was something missing- Something important hasn't yet happen tonight.

'Wait, Marinette-'

'Huh?' Confused at the tug at her wrist, Marinette turned around to be met with a pair of soft lips on hers.

She promptly dropped the ring of keys onto the cold pavement.

Bluebell eyes widened and she felt her cheeks heat up, and she was sure she was red from her nose to the tips of her ears.

But a warm feeling bloomed through her chest, and suddenly she wasn't cold from the winter air anymore. She closed her eyes and wrapped her arms around the man she loved, a bold move that she herself didn't see coming.

This closeness, their night together, this date, the kiss, his hand wrapped around her waist and rested under her chin, tilting her head up gently- This was perfect. They were perfect.

And fate agreed.
