Y/N's POV

I was sitting lazily in one of the green armchairs in the Slytherin Common Room, a couple days had passed but I had made no effort to talk to either Hermione or more importantly, Ron.

Ron didn't like Hermione. That was what I was telling myself, there was no way Ron had feelings for Hermione. It just didn't make sense, it didn't work like that.

"I'm going for a walk." I announced to Draco, who had Pansy stroking his hair.

He looked at me and I nodded as I made my way out the Common Room.

Walking down the empty corridors of the school, I looked around to find any trace of either Hermione or Ron. I had no problem with Hermione, I knew she loved me and I knew she wouldn't leave me for Ron, but I still needed to talk to either of them.

If Ron was in the Common Room I would have no chance of speaking to him, but luckily I knew he would be on Prefect duty. I never understood how he managed to get Prefect, it could've been anyone else but him yet Dumbledore still chose the Weasley boy.

If I was still 'alive', I was certain it would be me and me and Hermione could go on Prefect duty together, have secret late-night rendezvous whilst on duty.

But no, it didn't work like that.

"Hey Hermione, I'll go check this corridor and then I'll meet up with you." I heard Ron's voice. I pressed my back against the stone-cold wall and listened, waiting for Ron to turn the corner.

As soon as Ron turned the corner I moved quickly and soon, Ron was against the wall and I was looking at him threateningly.

"What's going on with you and Hermione?" I demanded.

Ron had a smirk on his face. "Nothing that concerns you."

I gritted my teeth. "It does concern me actually, if you haven't forgotten I'm actually her boyfriend."

"Well, shit boyfriend you are. You can't seem to make up your mind, are you Voldemort's bitch or not?" Ron sneered.

I wanted to punch him but I controlled myself, after all Ron was still one of my oldest friends.

"Stay away from her, you got that right? She's mine and you know it so back off." I said menacingly.

Ron pulled himself free from my grip. "You don't deserve her, you're scum, you know that, she knows that, I know that. Soon you'll lose her because you can't give her everything she deserves."

"And you can?" I retorted.

"I can at least try."

"So Ronald Weasley, the famous sidekick, is going to replace Y/N L/N and be Hermione's one true love?"

Ron's eyes narrowed. "Don't bring up Y/N."

"Only if you don't bring up Hermione ever again." I said before turning and walking away.

The next morning, I was sitting in the Great Hall next to Blaise, talking about Quidditch when I saw Draco walk in, looking extremely scared. He looked around the Great Hall and I could see Harry make eye contact with him.

Soon after, Draco rushed out the Great Hall and I lept to my feet and hastily followed. He was still within sight and I followed him closely until I arrived at where he went to, the boys' bathroom.

"Draco," I said concernedly, "what's wrong?"

He was standing with his back facing me, his hands clutching either side of the sink, his white-blonde head bowed. He was sobbing loudly.

"Draco," I said quietly, "talk to me. I can help you."

"No one can help me." said Draco. His whole body was shaking. "I can't do it...I can't...it won't work...and unless I do it soon...he says he'll kill me..."

"Do you remember the pact we made?" I asked him softly. "He's not going to kill you Draco, I won't let him."

Draco sobbed quietly, before looking at himself in the mirror. He eyes flickered up from the sink to the top of the mirror and he instinctively drew his wand and turned around.

I snapped my head around and turned to see Harry, his wand also drawn out.

"Don't do it Harry," I said calmly to the boy, "don't do it."

But it was too late, Draco had instinicetly fired a hex towards Harry and the black-haired boy dodged out of the way.

"STOP IT!" I yelled but to no success, both boys continued firing spells at each other and I would have to cast protection spells to save myself from spells coming from both ends. I didn't get involved though, I didn't want to hurt Harry or Draco.

"No! No! Stop it!" a high pitched voice said and I turned and saw Moaning Myrtle in the corner of the bathroom, her voice echoing around. There was a loud bang behind me and I jumped out of the way before the debris could hit me.

Draco turned towards Harry, a look of anger on his face. "CRUC-!"

"DRACO NO!" I screamed, jumping forwards towards Draco, ready to deflect the spell if it was going towards Harry's direction.

"SECTUMSEMPRA!" Harry reacted, his wand moving wildly.

Draco's POV

The spell hit and I braced myself for what was going to hit me. However, when I reopened my eyes I saw a more horryfying sight.

Blood spurted from Y/N's face and chest as though he had been slashed with an invisible sword. He staggered backward and collapsed onto the waterlogged floor with a great splash, his wand falling from his limp right hand.

"No-" gasped Harry. Slipping and staggering, Harry got to his feet and plunged toward Y/N, whose face was now shining scarlet, his white hands scrabbling at his blood-soaked chest.

"No- I didn't-" Harry said quickly, "-do something!"

I stared at the boy, my face filled with shock and horror. In that minute, I forgot everything that I had against Harry and tried to help him fix Y/N, who looked like he was going to face a painful death.

Harry stayed there, not know what he was saying; he fell to his knees beside Y/N, who was shaking uncontrollably in a pool of his own blood.

I rushed out the room, looking frantically around for the closest Professor.

"Professor Snape!" I said quickly when I saw the Slytherin Professor. "Sir you have to help! F-F/N! He's been...he's been attacked!"

I rushed back into the bathroom and seconds later, the door banged open behind me. Snape had burst into the room, his face livid. Pushing Harry roughly aside, he knelt over Y/N, drew his wand, and traced it over the deep wounds Harry's curse had made, muttering an incantation that sounded almost like song. The flow of blood seemed to ease; Snape wiped the residue from Y/N's face and repeated his spell, now the wounds seemed to be knitting. Me and Harry were still watching, horrified by what Harry had done.

When Snape had performed his countercurse for the third time, he half-lifted Y/N into a standing position, with me supporting him.

"You need the Hospital Wing. There may be a certain amount of scarring, but if you take dittany immediately we might avoid even that...come...Draco will help you."

Me and him supported Y/N across the bathroom, before we left, Snape turned back at the door to say in a voice of cold fury. "And you, Potter...you wait here for me."

Once we had escorted Y/N to the Hospital Wing, Madam Pomfrey looked shocked and hastily placed Y/N on the bed. He was conscious but he looked extremely out of it and groggy. Before Snape left, he gave me a pitiful look and turned away.

"Are you ok?" I asked Y/N, who sat up slightly in his bed.

He nodded and let out a grunt. "I'm fine...I've had worse."

There was a silence and when Madam Pomfrey came back over with some Dittany, she asked for me to leave but I refused, I couldn't leave Y/N on his own.

"Does it hurt?" I questioned. "Almost dying?"

Y/N let out a weak chuckle. "I wasn't going to die Draco, you know that. But it didn't hurt, it kind of just felt painless and I felt empty, but that might just because I'm almost immune to pain and I've been through worse."

I nodded and looked at the boy, Y/N let out a sigh and shifted slightly in the bed before letting out a sigh.

"I understand you're scared of him and you're scared of death," Y/N said quietly, his eyes still closed, "but don't be scared. At least don't be scared of death, you can't escape it, you can't cheat it so you just need to accept that it's going to happen one day."

"And what about...him?"

Y/N replied. "I can't tell you to not be scared of him, because even I am."

My eyes widened. "You're scared of him? But he adores you, at least more than everyone else because you're his blood."

"Just because I'm his heir doesn't mean he scares me any less," Y/N said calmly, "I've seen the things he's done, I know what he's capable of and after the summer, even I'm not safe."

Suddenly, the door burst open and Hermione Granger, the Mudblood, walked in. When she reached the bed, I wanted to sneer at her and tell her to go away but she had a concenered and worried look on her face as she hastily took Y/N's hand.

"Draco." Hermione said politely, nodding at me.

I wanted to reply with Mudblood or any other rude things I could think of but I met Y/N's warning look and refrained myself. "Hello, I'll leave him to you now."

I turned and began to walk away but not before saying something. I looked back and looked at the happy couple, who were both staring at me.

"You're good for him you know," I said to Hermione, "he needs you."

And then I left the Hospital Wing.
