It had been a little over a year. It turns out I wasn't pregnant, thank god. They had decided that maybe they would get better profit selling me rather than foaling me. If I didn't like the stallion, I would never get pregnant and the chance was if I did I'd be so stressed it'd abort the foal. I want to have foals, I do. But I'm not gonna sit around and be told who to foal for. I won't stand for it. My whole life I've been told to be who I am, and yet so many people are telling me who to be. I don't understand why everyone wants to change me. What's wrong with being me? I thought I was beautiful, and unique. Apparently not. They had decided to take me to market. Kate was mounting Hawk. Nick was mounting me, bareback. I was fine being bareback. I rather enjoyed it. With a small kick, we were on our way. We plodded along the dirt path. Nick was confident riding me; Kate, not so much. He just let the reins sits loosely in his hands. I had heaps of room. I reached out to branches and leaves. It was so beautiful around here. The trees, strong and tall, were filled with colourful, cheerfully singing birds. The ground was a soft, rich dirt. Many creatures surrounded these forests. Deers, pigs, horses and even bears. I wasn't afraid of any bear. The struggles I've had, there's no way I'm losing my life to a flea-covered, ugly bear. With their sharp knife like teeth, and gapping jaws. Long claws, sharp enough to pierce through the strongest of hide. Hawk trotted up beside me. "How's it going?" He asked. I looked at him, and although he didn't deserve my acknowledge, I spoke to him. "I'm alright, Hawk. How are you?" I ask. He looks at me, pulling on his bit. "I've been thinking of how you think of me. And I am self-centred and rude, and I'm sorry. I've changed myself. I'm eternally grateful for making me see myself in others shoes. I'm going to change for the better of people. I hope you will forgive me." I can't believe it. He is actually a nice person. "Now that's the stallion I'd want to foal for." I say. He nudges me happily. We continue to chat happily. We swap stories, and we find out about each other's past. Nick and Kate decide to stop at a running river. They dismount and let us roam, within reason. I walk over to the river, and dip my soft, sensitive lips in the shining water. It's cold, but refreshing. Hawk is grazing on some long, green grass beside a tree. I decide to go for a walk. Trotting through the trees surrounding the river, I stop. There's a herd of deer up ahead at the river. They're drinking and grazing. The buck raises his head, and looks at me. He sees no harm in having me there, so goes back to grazing. A small doe walks over with her fawn. I reach out to the fawn, who reaches out to me. We touch each other's noses, and then move back. The mother looks at me. And I look at her. I nicker softly, and play with the little fawn for another couple minutes. Before it could get better, nick was calling my name. I nicker again, and leave. When Nick mounts, he spots the herd of deer. He has a bow and arrows on his back. He aims and I realise what he's going to do. The deer are all looking at us, worried. If they move he definitely will shoot. I put my ears back, and toss my rump into the air, throwing Nick off over the front of me. The deer are gratefully look at me, and hurry off on their way. Nick gets up, with a bloody nose. "Something must've startled her." Kate says. Over the year that I've been here, I've noticed that Nick has a short temper. He looks at her angrily. "Oh yeah, because something startled her so much to throw me off. She's not an idiot, Kate!" He yells. Hawk gets a little agitated. I stand still and wait for Nick to re-mount. He does and he kicks me on through the river. As we emerge from the river, and climb up the hill, there stands a large village. Lively and interesting. We canter off towards it. I guess I'm going to meet my new owners soon...
