"Alright, everything seems to be in order. Here is your room key, Mr. Corvis, and thank you for choosing our establishment and we hope you find everything to your likings," the polite yet very cheery and perky blonde lady at the register counter said, handing me the key to my new home.

"Thank you," i said, clutching the bag around my shoulder as i took my suitcase and went to the elevator, pressing on the button that'll take me to the 13th floor, out of 20 floors.

The apartment wasn't luxurious, but it was still a roof over my head, which counts.

I then arrive and see there was already furniture there. It was pretty old, but at least it looked sturdy.

Basically, the place looked pretty great, and had a great view of Cincinnati. Looks really different from Detroit or Los Angeles.

"I decided to get some stuff unpacked so i can just do the rest tomorrow when my phone rang.

I looked at the collar I.D. It was Tyler.

I answer the phone.

"Hey, what's up??" i asked.

"How's settling in? What'd ya think??" he asked.

"Pretty great. Thanks again," i said.

Tyler was the one who got me the apartment. Glad he's still on my side.

"No problem. Hey, want to meet up at Starbucks later??" he asked.

"Uhh, sure," i said.

"Alright, I'll be by to pick you up in 10 minutes, then," he said.

"Awesome, see you later, man," i said, and hung up.

That's when I start hearing screaming, but it sounded faint and muffled from the walls.

I decide to see what's going on if its outside, so i open the door and look around in the hallway, but saw nobody.

Huh, maybe I'm just hearing stuff.

I unpacked a bit more before Tyler texted that he was here and I pull on my jacket and key and head out.

As i lock the door i noticed a man and woman, possibly around my age, next door talking in whispers. The woman had really bright red hair, and was pretty pale. She looked nervous.

I was about to walk away when suddenly the man slapped the woman across the face, who yelped as her head turned to the side and she clutched to her cheek.

My eyes widen in shock. What the fuck?!

The man then opens the door to the apartment and shoves her inside the room and follows inside, making sure nobody was looking.

I kept my head down to pretend I didn't see what I just witnessed.

I hear the door closed and look up, seeing the hallway was empty.

That was crazy.

I quickly lock up my door and head down the hall to the elevator to meet with Tyker.

I walk into the elevator and sigh. 

"Let's get this new life started," i said to myself.
