I met with Tyler at the coffee shop and we ordered our coffees. It was nearly empty. Just us, a distracted cuple who were eating each other's faces off, and a little kid at the corner focused in a picture book.

"So, how's it going so far??" he asked.

"Pretty good. Just hope I did the right choice," i said.

"Of course you did. You were hitting rock bottom hard, dude. Just be glad here is better," he said.

It was then the waitress came by with our trays of coffee that I realize she's the woman i saw when i was leaving. She wore the uniform worn here and her red hair was in a messy ponytail. Odd enough,

"Here are your coffee's, gentemen," she said meekly.

"Thank you," an eager Tyler said as he grabbed his coffee right from teh tray.

I let the waitress serve my coffee cup but it was as if suddenly her arm gave out and the coffee felland spilled all over the table. Tyler and I was able to get up on time before it dripped on top of me.

"Oh my goodness, I'm so sorry!!!" she cried, looking nervous.

"Hey, hey, its okay," I said, Tyler grabbing some napkins and mopping up the brown drink from the dark green table as the waitress quickly grabbed a towel and tried to clean it fast.

"What's going on?!" a voice boomed from the back.

I looked and recognized the man as the one who slapped her.

She looked frightened and then i noticed the little boy drew his attention towards us.

"Jaylin, did you make another mess?!" he snapped.

Before the red headed girl can say something I spoke.

"Nothing's wrong. I just spilled my coffee. Sorry for being clumsy," I said, grabbing the cup and tossing it into the trash bin.

The guy, who's name tag read 'Troy,' seemed to have bought it.

"Very well. Jaylin, clean up the mess," he said sternly and walked away. Once he was gone, the little blonde boy ran up and held to her.

I'm guessing that's her little brother.

I knelt down and took the washcloth from Jaylin's hand.

"Let me clean this. You just rest up for now," i told her.

"I'll help," Tyler said, putting his coffee down.

"I can't. I have work to do," she said, taking it back and cleaning up the mess.

The little kid looked up at me curiously. I noticed a sort of small scar on the side of his head.

Jaylin was then done and just got up. "Thank you," she said to me.

It took a while for me to answer.

"You're welcome," i said.

She then walked away, the little boy trailing behind.

"Let's go, dude," Tyler said.

I nodded and followed him out.

I was worried for Jaylin, as well as that little kid.

"Why did you cover for her??" Tyler asked.

I guess i should tell him.

"Well, turns out she's my neighbor. I saw that guy, well, slap her. By the way he stormed into the cafe worried me, and I didn't want her to get hurt," I said.

"I knew there was something up with that guy. You should befriend her, make sure she's okay, you know. Same with teh kid," he said.

I thought about it. I guess it seems like the best thing to do.
