Third Person POV

It was dawn; the sky is a bit dark and the wind is hard enough to make branches of the trees sway. Some of the leaves were blown by the cold wind. The leaves landed on a window at the second floor outside the house. When the wind stops, the leaves fall to the ground but then flies again when the wind comes back. Peeking through the window at the second floor, we can see a room that was once described in the prologue.

We could see two girls sleeping soundly. One of them is sleeping at the lower bunk of the bed and the other is sleeping on the floor. Both girls have shoulder-length brown hair, round brown eyes, round face, and almond skin. Their body wasn't that fat nor was it skinny. Although, they do wear different clothes. The one sleeping on the lower bunk is wearing yellow PJs with pandas as the design and the one sleeping on the floor is wearing a white shirt with a brown jacket and dark brown jogging pants. The person at the lower bunk bed slowly wakes up and rubs her eyes. She yawns and sits up on her bed, sleepily. She stretches her arms and her legs before she decides to stand up. Her blank mind suddenly fills with memories of last night. Because of that, she remembers to take her phone from under the pillow. Thankfully, it's still there. She starts to walk going to the door when she trips and falls on someone. She didn't notice her sister until now who was lying down on the floor, drooling. She sighs and gets up on her feet. She then takes her own blanket and covers her sister with it so she won't be too cold.

After that, she makes her way to her own desk while holding her own phone. She takes her charger and her black colored glasses on the desk and walks out of the room as she wears her glasses to see the way clearly. She turns on the light that can brighten up the way going down the stairs. She descends from the quarter-turn staircase and turns on the lights in the living room. The living room wasn't that spacious. There is a bit large black screen TV that is on the wall, a small coffee table on top of a black and white carpet at the center of the room which is in front of the TV, a black sectional type of sofa that surrounds the coffee table, and some decorations like paintings, plants, and others than can be seen near the sofa, hang on the walls, and place on top of the coffee table. She walks to the nearest socket which is next to the TV and charges her own phone before proceeding to the dining room at the left of the living room that can get her to the kitchen. She finds a small yellow note sticking on the fridge next to some counters and a stove. The kitchen isn't that big...well a bit big.

There are cabinets on the walls and below it are counters with two drawers attached. Those drawers and cabinets are facing at the right if that person were to stay at the door frame facing inside the kitchen. They are connected to a corner type of counter and cabinet which made some of it face the person at the door frame. Next to the counter is a refrigerator and then the stove, and another counter but this time, there's an electric oven on it. In the middle of that room, there's an island type of counter. The design of the kitchen is black and white in a modern type design. She picks the note and reads whatever is written there. It says that the twin's mom has prepared food for them and it is placed at the island counter.

The note also said to turn off the lights when not used. She shrugs it off thinking it is Madiel's fault and looks at the counter as her stomach grumbles only to see something covered by a plate. She removes the plate on top of an another plate just for her to see 4 french toast. It wasn't that hot nor was that cold so she might as well eat at least one of it after she make a hot drink for herself. She grabs the plate of french toast and places it at the dining table in the dining room. She walks back at the kitchen to boil some water so she can make some coffee. While waiting for the water to boil, she comes back to her own phone and opens it to see her note from last night is still there. She starts to wander through waves of thoughts. Most of it is questions that remain unsolved but one thought stands out. It is not a question nor an answer but it is a memory. A memory she holds on, hoping that their father would keep. His promise. She remembers it so vividly even if it happened two years ago prior to his sudden disappearance.

---

A young brunette girl wearing a black glasses, white shirt, and black leggings looked at a man in his 40's standing by the front door. She knew too well not to question why she was not invited to go with them but that fact did not stop her from asking. "Did I failed to please you over and over again to the point whatever I do, I would not pass Madiel?" Her tone was cold but her look showed sadness, loneliness, and jealousy. The man, who wore a long brown coat, plain green scarf, and black boots, looks at his daughter before sighing. "You know the reason behind that, Marian. I do not wish to prolong our stay here." He looked at his side to see another brunette who looks exactly like Marian. That girl was wearing an orange sweater jacket, black jogging pants with white stripes at the side, and black rubber shoes. "I do not want Madiel to wait for too long." Madiel looked at her look-a-like with a small apologetic smile. She did not want her twin sister to took this in a wrong way but her sister gave her the same look as what she once did before but now with boiling anger instead of loneliness. Their father noticed this from Marian as he rubbed his temple and contemplated her.

It was silence as the twins stared at each other until their father finally spoked. "Marian." He called. She turned to their father as she expected that he would scold her for her actions. "How about we make a promise?" She was astonished and in disbelief to hear he wanted to make a promise with her for the first time but on the other hand, Madiel wasn't shocked at all and instead, she smiled at the both of them. Making promises is a big deal in their continent. They are really a rare concept so not only it symbolizes trust between two or more people but it also creates a contract between them and the people whom they made a promise with. It is like making deals. Unfortunately, Marian doesn't have that much knowledge about this rare concept. Nonetheless, she listened to what their father was about to say. "Promise me when you are strong enough, find me. If you do, then I promise you, I will show you what I have been working on." Even if she did not understand the mission of finding him, those words attracted the innocent young girl with the glasses. She showed interest and hope through her eyes as a small 'o' form on her lips. Meanwhile, the girl next to their father showed worry and fear about what her father may have promised but that was completely ignored by her and nodded at him with a stern look. Their father smiled and opened the door. "Come on, Madiel. We have a lot of work to do." He said as he grabbed his large case and bid them a farewell as Madiel followed their father with a sad look. Her twin sister didn't notice the look on her face as she watched them drive off in the distance.

---

She sighs and looks around the room. It was empty, silent, and lonely. It is normal for Marian since she stays at the house without anyone else during most of her life. Her thoughts were abruptly disturbed by a loud doorbell ringing and knocking. The knocking is so loud that it came to the point that it is really unpleasant to the ear. She stands up and walks to the front door to open it. The moment Marian opens the door, she covers her eyes after a bright light shines right in front of her. When she notices the light slowly fades, she takes a look at whatever is happening just for her to see a guy taller than him. He has brown colored skin, dark black hair in sleek blowback style, black eyes, and teeth like a shark. He is wearing a green sleeveless hoodie, 3/4 joggers, and grey rubber shoes. He one of his hands is gripping a handful of his hair as his other hand is placed in his hips. From looking up at the sky, he faced Marian with a charismatic smile.

"Oh how lucky you are to be blessed by the presence of a beautiful man such as me."

Her eyes twitch in annoyance and confusion. "What?" The guy stared at her from top to bottom with cringe and disgust written all over his face. "Did my beauty strike too bright for you to be blinded and to look so ghastly?" Marian rubs the bridge of her nose and was about to speak when another guy..or is it a girl? Anyways, they peek out from the side of the doorway. They have almond colored skin, shoulder length black hair with pink highlights on the end, round pink eyes, and a round face. They do look like a girl but their body does look like a built for a guy. They wear a plain gold necklace, black shirt with a pink turtle printed on his chest, black jeans, and black with pink highlights on their shoes. They are stunned to see the annoyed girl who in return, glared at them. She sighs before looking back at them.

"Look, can you tell to your younger sisters that this method of charming me isn't going to make me buy one of your girl scout cookies. If there's nothing else more, leave." She closes the door without even letting them talk and locks it. She plans on going back to the kitchen when she hears a ton of loud knocks from the door. She tries to ignore it and goes back to whatever she's doing when the knocks become unbearable. She walks back to the door with irritation and anger. When she opened the door, she saw the same charismatic man crossing his arms as he pouted.

The girl-boy person can be seen rubbing their temples with irritation.'HOW DARE YOU CLOSE THE DOOR ON THIS MAJESTIC PRESENCE!?" The man in front of Marian frustratedly said as he gestured his hand from his head to his feet. "BE GRATEFUL YOU ARE BLESSED WITH MY BELOVED PRESENCE, MADIEL. NOT ALL PEOPLE GET TO HAVE A CHANCE!" Her eyes widen as her mouth opens in realization. However, the guy who's been almighty by himself took her reaction in a wrong way. "FINALLY! YOU REALIZE WHO YOU ARE SPEAKING TO! Although a small apology won't do the trick! With this irresistible beauty I always have, you must do something irresistible to match my standards. Yes, that should do i-" He is suddenly cut off by Marian's question.

"Madiel?"

The person behind him looks up to her in realization. "You must be her twin she's been talking about." They said as they point at her. She nods her head in agreement as they step in front of the guy. "It's nice to finally meet you. My name is Jace." The person with pink highlights offers a shake of their hand as they smile at her. On the other hand, the guy stubble down a bit and stomp his feet in anger after being pushed backwards by Jace. "YOU TOOK MY SPOTLIGHT! UNBELIEVABLE." He swings his arms into the air before dramatically crossing it again as he looks away from the two of them. "He's Lucas. Forgive him for his actions. He's just dumb." They said as Marian shakes their hand. "I AM NOT DUMB! With this looks of mine, people becomes dumb and loyal to me. They would praise me with overwhelming compliments of how my looks are helping poor single girls at our school. Filling their lonely hearts with charm and beauty. They even made a shrine for me in their house! My looks are truly irresistible."

Without him noticing, the two people made their way inside the house and locked the door. When he finishes his speech, he looks at the door frame expecting they are there but to his surprise, they aren't. With anger boiling up, he walks near to the door and tries to open it only for him to get even more frustrated. He starts to knock at it as loud as he can as he shouts.

"HEY! WHY AREN'T YOU LETTING ME IN?! IF YOU TWO ARE JEALOUS OF MY LOOKS JUST SAY SO! BESIDES, MY LOOKS ARE WORTH GETTING JEALOUS OF." She sighs as she goes back to the kitchen to finish her breakfast leading to Jace following her. She didn't bother to talk to them and went straight upstairs after eating. Jace stays put in the living room as he sits on the sofa. When she reaches the 2nd floor of their house, she immediately walks in their room and opens up the cabinet. She moves some clothes from left to right trying to find any clothes that she thought of wearing until she saw a grey vintage dress hanging. She took the dress and tried to find anything that could fit with the dress.

She saw the turtle neck shirt that is neatly folded with the other shirts she has. She then walks in the small bathroom to take a shower before wearing the chosen clothes. When she got out, she went straight to her sister who's still sleeping soundly on the floor. "Hey sis, wake up." She tried to shake her repeatedly but that didn't wake her up. She tried it again but a lot harder until finally, she woke up. She sits up as she rubs her eyes and then looks at her sister. There was a long moment of pause before Madiel hugs her sister suddenly. Her hug is very tight to the point her sister can't breathe. "Let...me...go..!" Her now awakened sister let her go as she tried to catch her breath.

"GOOD MORNING MY SWEET LITTLE SISTER!"

She said as she tried to hug her again only for Marian to dodge it. She stood up and shook her dress to remove dust from it. "You should get ready, your friends are downstairs." She said as she takes her white sling bag and walks out of the room to descend from the second floor. She can still hear a faint knocking and shouting from the outside as she looks around the living room. She sees Jace sitting as their heads look down and their arms are crossed as she places her bag near them. She went back to her phone and unplugged the charger from the socket and her own phone. As she was folding her charger, Madiel went down stairs in a hurry. She looks around the room only for her to be confused as to why Lucas wasn't anywhere to be seen.

"Where's prince charming?" She asked her sister who just finished folding her charger neatly and putting her foot socks and her black knee high boots. "Prince charming? You mean that whining narcissist at the door?" She asked as she pointed at their front door. She didn't even bother watching what happened and took her bag and placed her phone inside of it. She wears the bag and looks from the front door, ready to go to school only for her to see Lucas and her sister dramatically posing and praising each other. "They do get along pretty well." The sudden voice from behind her startled her. She quickly looks at her back to see Jace standing in front of her as one of their hands rests inside of his pocket. She turns back and walks to the front door, passing in between the two.

"There is toast in the dining room. I'll go ahead, I can't stand this chaotic nonsense." She said without looking at them as she opened the door and went out of their house. Before she can even close the door behind her, a hand stops the door making her look back. Once again, she sees Jace standing there smiling as they hold the door. "May I come with you?" They asked as Marian let her grip from the knob of their door loosen. She looks away from the door and starts to walk ahead as she says, "Whatever." As a response to their question. They took it as a yes and went alongside Marian after they closed the door.
