"We're in his house..." these words, spoken shakily by Carl, echoed around my mind, as my paranoia took over and I began inspecting every room, my pistol clutched firmly in front of me. 

"Well, why is he not back yet?" I inquired, as I began searching ever inch of the kitchen - under the table, behind the door. Hell, I even checked inside the freezer. 

"He must still be searching the city  - probably leaves for days at a time, then comes back for a while," I concluded, praying that I was right. 

"Alright then, well we can get all the things we need - you know; medicine, ammo and everything, and then we can leave, can't we?" Carl suggested, sounding anxious and worried - a stark contrast from the fierce desire to seek revenge on Simon and his cousins that he had displayed earlier. 

Clearly the idea of him attacking us was not what Carl had intended, and any thoughts of revenge would become nothing more than the will to live if events panned out that way.

Which was unfortunate, because at that moment, the front door opened...

Sorry for the extremely short chapter. I had to upload something and I figured that this will be good enough until the weekend, where I'll hopefully be able to get the next (much longer) chapter up.
