I yawned as I woke up, another rainy morning shown outside my window.

I sighed and got up, going to wake up my mom. Thankfully, its Labor Day, so no school or work, but there's still errands to run nonetheless.

My name is Alexandra Madeline Brighton. I'm 18 years old, turning 19 in two months. I live with my mom, Elizabeth Brighton, in our home in Atlantic City, New Jersey. I study music production and physical therapy at a local college and work as a waitress at a hotel not far away.

I enter my mom's room and go to her side, moving the wheelchair out of the way.

"Hey, mom... Wake up," I said, shaking her softly.

She groaned sleepily and looked up, smiling. "Hey, baby.... Good morning."

Five years ago, my mom and I were in a car accident that almost killed us, involving a semi running a stop light at high speed as she drove me to school one morning, hitting our little car and flipping it into a nearby construction ditch. I had a punctured lung and was in a coma for a few weeks, and serious burns on my back, and my mom ended up in a wheelchair for life due to the damage that was caused to her spinal cord, leaving her paralyzed from the waist down. I help take care of her, but when I'm at school there's a volunteer nurse, Kathy, who visits.

Its kind of a miracle that we survived that crash.

Its just me and my mom really. I never met my father, nor do I really want to. All I know is that according to my mom, he's not a good man, and just always hurt everyone and mostly just cares about himself, but one time they had a one night stand. He didn't want anything to do with us, so my mom left and never saw him again.

Not that I would care, though. He sounds like a self-centered asshole to be honest. I'm happy with my mom anyway, and don't really need a dad in my life, especially one like him.

"Good morning. Its time to get up. Let me help you," I said.

She nodded and sat up, then grabbed her legs and swung them to the side as I got the wheelchair in place so she can get seated. I held her hand as she gripped the chair and managed to jump onto the chair from her bed and got comfy.

"Come on, let's make breakfast," I said as I push the wheelchair out the room.

"What do you have in mind?" She asked as we made it to the kitchen, seeing our cat, Humphrey, sleeping on the dining table and scolded. "Humphrey, off the table!"

Humphrey looked over at my mother curiously with a tilted head, as if he didn't understand what my mom was scolding at him for.

I chuckled and walked over, picking him up before setting him on the ground as he trotted off.

"Silly cat," Mom sighed. "Alex, can you clean up the table a little, please? I'll get started on some scrambled eggs for us."

"Okay. Need any help?" I asked.

"Thank you, sweetie, but I can manage it just fine," she smiled reassuringly.

I smiled and nodded as I grabbed a washcloth.

Life wasn't that bad to be honest. Of course, only worry we have right now is that we're behind on our rent, and though our landlord is generous, he isn't patient.

I want to ask for more hours at work, but that would cut into my school time and my mom hates when I miss school.

If we don't pay the rent soon we'll be on the streets.

A miracle is something we could really use about now.

Fifth entry of the Concert of Hope series. 🎙🎶

I would like to say that even though I am no longer a fan of Andy Biersack, I will still continue any stories I had already planned before.

**I continue these plots involving him only for your entertainment.**

Also, considering Andy's the youngest, unlike the other BVB members who are already 30+ years old, let's just say he's just as old as them in the story.
