 AHSOKA TANO

The next morning, the young Senator and Ahsoka, disguised in old cloaks with hoods, in case anyone should recognize them, boarded a cargo ship to Coruscant. Ahsoka’s heart flew and her stomach turned at the thought of going back to the Temple, and she would maybe even see someone that she knew. But she was an outcast now. Seeing that his friend looked a little out of sorts, Lux smiled at her comfortingly.

“So, you know the plan, right?” the ex-Jedi asked.

“Yes, but perhaps you should go through it once more, just for good measure.”

“Right.” They moved to a corner where it was least likely that their conversation would be overheard. She then pulled a holotransmitter out from underneath her cloak. She pressed a button, and a hologram of the Jedi Temple popped up, with a red dot that moved that showed their route as she spoke.

“So, first we have to bypass clone security posts here, and here. I’ll use a mind trick on the troopers to make them believe that our passes are valid. Then, we make our way to the western side of the Temple. Because none of the main entrances are on that side, it has the least amount of security. From there we climb the wall.”

“And how would we do that? It would take way too long to free-climb it,” said Lux, staring at the tall, steep sides of the replica in the hologram.

“That’s why I brought these,” she said, taking two cable guns from the backpack that she was carrying.

“Wherever did you get these, Ahsoka? I don’t have a very extensive knowledge for weapons, but I know that you can’t find cable guns just anywhere.”

“I found them on Felushia. The cargo ship I was on stopped there for the night to refuel and to make repairs. So, I’d heard from the merchants that there’d been a big battle between the Sepis and the Republic a few days before. Since I didn’t have any credits or lightsabers, I figured that I could go look for blasters there, but it had already been salvaged. I could only find these.”

“Unlawful, but regardless, very resourceful.”

Ahsoka smiled, but then resumed her military stance. “So, next we get through the ventilation system, heading downwards. The entrance is ray-shielded, but I think I can disarm it, provided the code hasn’t been changed. We would take the pipes down to the Memorial Room, where the Jedi keep the lightsabers of fallen or former Jedi. It’s the only place that they could be. Then we would take the same route out. Any questions?”

“You sounded like a real commanding Republic officer when you said that.”

“It’s what Anakin taught me to do when giving briefings.” The ship landed with a clunk! “Now let’s get moving.”

Ahsoka tried to look the opposite, but she was actually in deep thought. Why had Lux unnecessarily complemented her not once, but twice?
