“Hush, little baby, don’t you cry. Mama’s going to sing you a lu-lla-by,” sang an incredibly beautiful voice. A petite figure, slowly becoming clearer as the seconds ticked by, reached into a crib and picked up a squirming bundle.

It was a mother and her baby. Suddenly the whole scene became visible. The young mother lifted her little one into the air, and the line of golden stitching on the edges of blanket that the baby was wrapped in caught in the sunlight streaming in through an open window. She spun around a few times, she and her baby laughing.

It was a room in a large villa of the Lake Country on the small planet of Naboo. On the wall was a large painting of a couple sitting by the waterfalls in the same region, the girl in a yellow dress that complimented her curly brown hair, and the boy in loose brown robes. A golden brown loveseat was underneath the incredibly lifelike work of art.

The baby looked down at its mother. “Ma… Ma Mama,” the baby, a year-old girl with brown hair, mumbled seriously, waving her pudgy arms about.

The young mother’s eyes widened in wonder and joy. “Oh! Leia’s first word! Baby said her first word! Ani, come in here! Hurry!”

A young man of maybe twenty-five ran into the room, carrying another baby, this one a boy with blond hair, with one arm. His hair was just down to his shoulders, and a mix of brown and sandy blond. His bangs were a little in his eyes, which were a striking blue. A lightsaber swung at the belt of his black and coffee-colored robes.

“Padme, what is it? What’s happened?” he asked, clearly nervous. The scar next to his eye, along with the expression on his face, made him look unfortunately used to receiving bad news.

Padme fixed him with her brown doe’s eyes. “Anakin, Leia said her first word!” she said excitedly.

Anakin calmed down, relieved, and a rare, free smiled broke out on his face. “That’s wonderful, my love!” He put his free arm around her, looked down at the other baby in his arms, who was beginning to wake up. “Looks like you’ve got some catching up to do, Luke! Your sister is way ahead of you!”

Luke opened his eyes and yawned, then looked almost unhappily at his twin sister. His parents laughed. “Shh – not so loud!” Padme whispered to her husband. “I think he heard you!”

The father laughed again, then became a little more serious. “I love you so much, Padme… And I am so sorry about what I put you through a year ago.”

She looked down at her twin children, who were unaware that the mood had been dampened. “Ani, I thought that we were going to put the past behind us now. Look at us! We have a beautiful life. Our two amazing children, a lovely home here on Naboo... we have to live in the moment, or it’s going to pass us by.”\

“You’re right, I’m sorry. I can’t help but worry, but I could never imagine a better way to raise our twins. This is more than perfect, and I love you.”

“I love you too, Anakin.” Together, they walked up to the carved windowsill, and looked out the large window at the view. Never had two people ever been happier.
