DARTH SIDIOUS

Darth Sidious paced in his chambers on Mustafar, perplexed. He was pleased that the former Jedi padawan had not yet intervened in his affairs, but he knew that nothing could stop a curious Jedi except his or her superiors, such as the Jedi Council. But this one had no such superiors.

Now how to deal with this problematic ex-Jedi? He asked himself. He thought for a moment, and then an evil smile split his face like it had been cut with a knife. He walked over to his holo-transmitter, his dark, hooded robe brushing the floor, and pushed a button with a wrinkled finger.

A hologram of a kneeling Count Dooku came up. “What is thy bidding, my Master?”

“This former padawan is proving to be more skilled than we thought. I want you to take any and all means possible to capture her friend Senator Bonteri. Make him suffer until she hands herself over.”

“As you wish, Lord Sidious. I am sending in my special units now.”

“See to it that you do not fail me again, Lord Tyranus.”

 “Yes, my Master.”

AHSOKA TANO

The sun rose over Onderon. It was to be a beautiful day, but few noticed it. Ahsoka’s nightmares were getting worse and worse, and she no longer slept well. And there was a general apprehension in the air, as everyone prepared for another day of fighting.

Sleepily she stumbled out of her tent. The camp was almost packed up, and she realized that she had woken up a little too late. Lux and Anakin were already awake, and the young Senator was watching the general and his officers plan out their course of action.

Stretching, she ran over to join them. “G’morning, Lux, Anakin. Did I miss anything?”

“No, not really. The briefing’s just starting.” Anakin began to talk, going over routes that they could use to take the droid battle stations on the planet’s surface, and the pros and cons of each one. But Ahsoka wasn’t really listening. She was deep in thought, her whole body tense and her senses on high alert after a night of almost no sleep.

Oh, look. There’s a squad of commando droids coming at us, she thought, as the last vapors of sleep faded away. What? Commando droids!

“Um, Anakin?” she said, tapping his arm frantically. “I think we’re in trouble!”

He whipped around, immediately spotting the danger. He yelled to his men to take cover, and got his lightsaber off of his belt and into his hand in a split-second, ready for an attack.

The droids advanced with graceful, ninja-like jumps and flips, despite their metal casings. A flurry of lasers flew at them, but few in the group were hit, and out of those that were, most got up again. They have thicker armor this time, observed Ahsoka, as all emotions and cares left her in an instant. For it was the way she had been trained to react in the heat of battle.

“Aim for the heads!” She jumped out from behind her cover, a large rock, and proceeded to distract the deadly droids, giving the clone troopers the opportunity that they needed to take them out. She really had missed being a Republic commander like this, when they were in the heat of battle.

But in their determination, they had overlooked one small detail: that of the Senator’s whereabouts. He had been unable to grab a blaster in time, and had been hiding behind one of the tents, where three of the droids had found him. They had then proceeded to drag him away to the main group.

Noticing a flash of Lux’s dark grey sweater as his captors pulled him around a bend, she hollered to Anakin, “They’ve taken Lux! Distract the remaining droids!”

She took off after them, lightsabers at the ready, and started to slash away at the dull metal droids. They split into two groups, the smaller of the two guarding the Senator, and the bigger one firing at her.

“Let me go! Ugh! Ahsoka!” came a muffled cry from somewhere ahead of her. Then she saw it: another flash of grey fabric. She made her way blindly towards it, cutting up the droids that stood in her way.

Lux!” But, in her haste to get to her boyfriend, she didn’t fully disable one of the commando droids, who reached for its gun and fired.

She felt an explosion of pain as the shot contacted her ribcage. Crying out, she fell to the ground. She hit her head on something, and her eyesight faded into blackness with Lux’s cries of desperation to reach her ringing in her ears.
