You were in the garden attached to your small cottage, gathering some vegetables for your dinner when you heard your mother's frantic screams from inside the cottage. You dropped the basket, not caring where the fresh food went as you cared far more about what was going on with your mother and why she was in such distress and calling for your assistance. Last you had known, she had been in the village, so you feared something had happened there or on her way back to your home.

As you entered the cottage, you saw your mother assisting a bloody man into the living area and onto one of the benches to lie down. He seemed barely able to handle his own weight or walk but with your mother's help, blood smeared across the flooring from the front door to where he laid down. The path to your cottage shared the same red stain, leading off out of view showing where the two had trailed from to get back to your home.

"What happened?" You asked, helping her lay him down.

There were several open wounds and injuries visible, but you feared what else there was to leave so much blood everywhere.

"I found him in the village. Some men attacked him and left him for dead. I know not what he did or if he deserved the beating, but I could not leave him to die," your mother explained.

"Go fill the bucket with water and gather a fresh wash cloth, we aren't going to get far without seeing where a majority of this blood is coming from," you sighed, pulling your sleeves up to try and save them from the blood but you doubted that you would end up unscathed.

Your mother rushed off to get the water whilst you gathered herbs and elixirs that you stored due to your mother's occupation as a healer and your assistance in the field of medicine. As you waited for him, you knelt down beside the bench to get access to him.

"I'm Y/N," you said softly. "And the woman who brought you here is my mother, Y/M/N. What is your name?"

He let out a groan, trying to find his voice again. "Jaskier."

"It's nice to meet you, Jaskier, although I'd rather it under better circumstances. I'm going to have to remove your shirt to be able to see your injuries. We are going to try and help you."

He didn't say anything more before your mother returned with the water and wash cloth and the two of you started your work to cure his ailments.
