"So did he text you?" Jet asked as Katara sat at her desk and gave him a look.

"No, I didn't really expect him too?" Katara rolled her eyes as she sipped on her ice coffee.  Jet gave her a look. They both saw Zuko walk into the class room and jet turned back around with a scoff as Zuko sat a seat closer, him and Katara were only one seat apart now.

"Here's your notes back," Zuko pulled out her blue note book and set it on her desk as he pulled out the yellow one she got him.

Katara saw he had a few pages filled in the notebook and smiled a little seeing it was being used.

"No problem, my offer still stands," she smiled back at him as he sipped his hot drink in the same cup from the day before. It was a regular reusable plastic cup that had the Jasmine Dragon on the side in green.

"I'll be fine," he told her and the bell rung.

"Hey I'm studying in the library third period if you wanted to join," she said quickly as the teacher began the lesson again as Zuko flipped to the next page in his notebook to begin his notes.

He ignored her as she pouted a little bit glanced over seeing she had a text on her phone.

Jet: baby steps I see

Katara bit her lip and flipped her phone so she wouldn't be distracted anymore. She bounced her leg remembering the bet her and jet made.

-

"Emotional is still fucked up jet," Katara hissed as they stood in the empty hall together during a class.

"You get him to fall in love with you or whatever you get the winnings," jet smirked down at her.

"And if I don't? I'm probably not his type," Katara scoffed with a glare.

"You owe me a date if he refuses," he winked and Katara didn't seem to happy with it.

"Jet this is so shallow, I have to make the guy like me even if I don't like him? It just feels dirty," she huffed hugging her body a little as her looked down at her.

"Trust me, you'll like feeling dirty," he chuckled.

She hesitated with a sickening feeling in her gut.

"Fine, don't think it's for me, do it for your friends, he hurt Suki and he hurt Aang, if it wasn't for you moving later he probably would've hurt your brother too, your going to hurt him like he hurt everyone else, this is his final punishment for it, after that you never have to see him again," jet explained as Katara pursed her lips a little.

"How long do I have?" She asked quietly with her eyes down.

"That's my girl," he smirked. "My little heartbreaker,"

"Zuko wait up!" Katara ran up to Zuko as he was walking out of school during lunch as he lit a cigarette as he walked down the front stairs.

"Uh you're still here?" Zuko looked at her confused as he held the cigarette to his lips.

"What?" He asked seeing she was disapproving the cigarette he was smoking.

"Sorry the smell," she took a step back.

"Yea these ones are pretty powerful," he shrugged leaning against the railing and continued to smoke.

"Your like 17, why are you smoking?" Katara asked as she sat on the railing across the stairs from him to keep her distance.

"So I don't get Parkinson's," Zuko said sarcastically as he exhaled smoke from his lips.

"Ha ha," She said flatly.

"It helps me with some stuff, a way of relaxing for me at least," he sighed rolling his eyes.

"You know it can kill you?" Katara pointed out.

"Nope, had no idea," he inhaled the nicotine anyways.

"So why do you keep talking to me? Like seriously Katrina, what do you want?" Zuko asked again unamused.

"Katara," she corrected.

"Whatever,"

"Like I told you yesterday, I understand how it sucks being the new kid," Katara inhaled deeply trying to keep her cool.

"I don't have money," he said simply.

"Wha-who said anything about money?!" Katara asked surprised a little.

"You know my sister, she's loaded, I am not, if you want something go bother her," Zuko said calmly as he tapped the cigarette against the railing.

"I don't care about money Zuko," Katara crossed her arms.

"So you pity me? Is that it? Are you that naive?" He snorted shaking his head.

"Why is that so hard to believe? That you just look like you could use a friend," she asked smirking a little at him.

"Pity?"

"No!"

"I-I just don't think your reputation should define you," she defended a little with a small nod. She was trying her best to be kind to him.

"Look Princess," he sighed irritated.

Zuko pushed himself off the railing and started to slowly walk towards her, his hair created a shadow over his eyes and shaded his large scar with no emotion in his eyes.

"I know my face scares you, and my reputation makes you uneasy," he towered over the girl as she felt trapped between him and the rail behind her even though Zuko didn't touch her.

"So do yourself a favor and mind your own fucking business," he put out the cigarette right next to Katara on the railing and dropped it at her feet.

"Leave me alone, I won't say it again," he whispered in her ear and went back inside.

Katara gulped a little as she remembered how to breathe when the doors slammed shut behind him. She ran her hand through her hair stressfully not knowing what just happened, her heart raced and her stomach fluttered inside.

"Holy shit he's fucking so intense," she whispered in shock.

Katara couldn't help but feel blush rising at how close he was to her, how stone cold he seemed in her personal space, calm. It was scary, maybe he hasn't changed after all, still the careless violent monster that everyone's telling her about, that her friends have told her about, the one that sent her friends to the hospital and bullied Aang. This asshole was going down.

She was gonna make him open up to her, it was a project now. And she was determined. She wanted that parking pass and money and the liquor. She'd be damned if she wasn't gonna get it.
