chapter one, friends

luna sat at the back of her geography class pulling at the sleeves of her sweater as she started at the clock waiting for the lesson to end and waiting for the end of the day so she could go to soccer tryouts.

"could you stop bouncing your leg, it's pissing me off." the brunette next to her said. luna looked over to see who was speaking to see penelope staring at her.

"sorry." luna mumbled softly before turning back to her notebook and picking up her pencil to doodle.

"could you not be such a bitch, penelope." cory said leaning forward to glare at the girl.

"shut up lesbo." penelope replied before continuing to stare at the back of kodys head as she played with her hair.

"desperate much." cory said quietly, rolling her eyes making luna chuckle slightly at the brunettes remark.

luna walked towards her usual table in the cafeteria at the back where she sits alone. her red converse hit the floor as she kept her eyes down before taking a seat.

what she didn't notice when she was walking to her usual spot was a pair of eyes on her. the young boy was curious why she was sitting alone so he started conversing with his new friends and began walking over to her

"who's that?" the new boy asked the two boys he had sat with.

"that's luna." the dark haired boy said looking over at the girl on her phone.

"i'm gonna ask her to sit with us." miguel said standing up making the other boys look at him with concern.

miguel stood in front of the eriksons table looking down at her smiling. luna looked up at him slowly with a confused look on her face. "hi i'm miguel." the boy said smiling.

"hi?" luna said back wondering what the boy was doing there.

"i noticed your sitting by yourself and i was wondering if you'd like to sit with me and my friends?" he said rocking back and forth on his heels. she looked behind miguel to see demitri and eli looking over at her, they both gave her a small wave.

"umm... sure." luna said before standing up and grabbing her tray of food and walking back over with miguel. "hi."

"hi." both boys said, one more quietly then the other.

the four teens began to converse into conversation about various different things, luna and miguel began to get along and luna was actually kinda happy that the diaz boy had asked her to sit with him and his friends.
