Skye's POV

Stepping out of the car I grab the DVDs and snacks from the backseat of the Uber. As I head towards the house I see Nicole's car in the driveway.

She walks out of the house with Josh at her side. "Listen here, bitch. You have no right to kick me out of my house."

I narrow my eyes at her and say. "It's not your home. It's my fathers. If it wasn't for his money you wouldn't have lived the luxurious life you had."

She's about to strike me when Josh grabs her hand and says. "She's not worth it."

I can't believe I was friends with this guy once. He doesn't care about anyone but himself and Nicole. No wonder there a match made in hell.

Nicole moves away from him. "Yeah, you're right she isn't. At least when her father dies I get everything." She laughs as she walks away from me and jumping into her car.

I open the door to the house and walk into the living room where I find Dad sitting on his favourite sofa.

A smile spreads across his face. "I'm glad you're here sweetheart?"

"I'm good. What about you, Daddy?"

"Feeling better than I was yesterday. Hannah's gone out for a couple of hours. She told me you would stop by."

"I saw Grandma and Grandpa today."

"That's nice. How are they?"

"Good, did you know that Grandpa is the president of the Country Club?"

"Yes, I did. It's been a long time since I've been there. What's happening tonight there?"

"A children's hospital charity event. Grandpa asked to be a bartender for this event and I said yes. You should come with me."

"Hannah, doesn't think it's a good idea for me to leave the house while I'm sick."

"How are you feeling right now? If you think you're fine to leave the house then you should. She can't make you stay home all the time. You still have a life to live even though you're sick with this incurable disease. Please, spend some time with Grandpa, Grandma and I."

He kisses the top of my head. "Okay, I'll spend some time with you. Maybe, I'll hit the golf course with my father."

A smile spreads across my face. "I'll pick you up before I head to the Country Club." I put a movie on and we watch it.

After the movie I kiss my father on the cheek and tell him I'll pick him up and 5:30pm.

At home I get dressed in a black skirt and a white top. The front door opens and my roommate Chelsea walks into the house. "Skye, are you home?"

"Yeah," I walk out of my bedroom. "I have something to ask you."

"Sure," she drops her bag on the table and gives her full attention to me.

"Do you want to help me serve alcohol to a bunch of rich people at a Country Club?"

A smile spreads across her face. "I would love to help you. I've never been to a Country Club before. I'm sure this place you're taking me to is beautiful."

"It is. I met my Grandparents there for lunch today. I got this job because of him and thought that you'd like to help out."

She hugs me. "What time do we have to leave?"

"Ten minutes. We have to pick Dad up. He's coming to the Country Club with us."

"Okay," She dashes to her bedroom and gets ready."

My phone starts to ring and I see Hannah flash across the screen. Answering it I say. "Hello, Hannah. What do you need?"

Hannah: You're father isn't going with you.

Me: You can't keep him away from things that makes him happy. Give him some breathing room and I promise you that if his health deteriorates I'll bring him home.

Hannah: I can't change your mind about this can I?

Me: No,

Hannah: Okay, if you need anything give me a call and I can help out.

Me: Thanks, Hannah. I'm sure everything will be fine.

Hannah: I'll see you when you get here. Bye, Skye.

Me: Bye, Hannah.

Hanging up the phone I see Chelsea round the corner and she looks at me. "Are you ready to go?"

"Sure," I grab my bag and we exit the house.

At 6pm, Chelsea pulls the car into the parking lot of the Country Club. She parks close to the entrance and we climb out of the car.

Dad steps next to me and looks at the building. "Damn, this place has changed since I was last here." A smile slowly spreads across his face. "You're mother and I were here a month before she passed away. There was a charity event that we were invited to. After she passed I couldn't come here again. Now, you've brought me I'm glad that I have all these memories of her."

I hug him. "I'm glad you came with us tonight."

We walk up the steps and enter the building. Grandma and Grandpa are standing in the foyer as we enter.

A smile spreads across my Grandparents faces. "You came." Grandma steps forward and she wraps her arms around her son. "I'm glad you came tonight."

"Me too." Dad says, honestly. "I was thinking about going on the golf course. Do you want to come Dad?"

"Sure, son." He kisses his wife and they start walking away.

Grandma hugs me. "Thank you for bringing him with you. He shouldn't be left in that house with just his wife to keep him company." She lowers her voice. "I never liked that woman. She's the cause of why we never stayed in touch and got to see you. She didn't think we were the best people for her kids to be around. When she became your stepmom, she wanted to protect you."

"She didn't do a good enough job as her daughter took everything from me. My friends and a potential boyfriends. Everyone believed the rumours she spread about me and her mother did nothing to help me. That's why when I turned eighteen I got out of there fast."

"Does your father know any of this?"

"He knows only what they want him too. They think they're protecting him, but they were doing the opposite."

Grandma leads us to the bar. "This is where you'll be working tonight. I'll come by later to give you a break. There will be food in the kitchen for you to eat."

"Thanks, Grandma."

Chelsea and I step behind the bar set it up.

A group of men wearing suits walk over to the bar and they ask for beers. Pouring the beers into plastic cups we give it to them and they walk away.

Dad and Grandpa walk in with Grandma and they walk over to the bar. I pour them drinks before they arrive and put it on the table in front of them.

"Thanks," Dad takes the beer and starts drinking it.

Looking towards the door I see Jaxtyn enter the room. "I'll need to use the bathroom." I tell Chelsea and walk out of the room before he can see.

When I return he isn't in the room and I continue to serve alcohol and soft drinks to everyone.
