Hazel POV

Right after the whole, "Arms are maniacs" thing happened, the ground started shaking. Not like in Jurassic Park when you can feel the T-Rex, but more like something was trying to find it's way to the surface. I turned to Percy.

"So... We have a problem-" the ground broke in an explosion of dirt.

A giant rat, much bigger than the ones before, surfaced. It looked at us all with glowing eyes.

"You have sealed your fate. The Overland will be ours once more. Our champion will lead us to victory!" The rat charged at Ripred, ignoring the rest of us. Ripred, despite being a very fast fighter, was taken aback and they both flew into the darkness. Gregor started to make some noises, but they just faded into the sounds of the rats fighting. Gregor flinched and winced a few times, although he was staring into the dark.

Oh, wait. He said something about echolocation earlier. That must be what's happening.

Ripred pulled the other rat back into the light, both bleeding from wounds all along their bodies.

Annabeth jumped in and slashed at the large rat. It turned around and grabbed her. Then it sprinted away as she attempted to get free or hurt the rat.

"Annabeth!" Percy screamed, rushing after the rat. Thalia was firing arrows, but they couldn't stop the rat.

Percy fell, defeated. Tears streaked down his face.

"I failed. Again."

I got up to comfort him, but out of the corner of my eye I saw something glowing where the rat had originally tunnelled from.

Arimanius will get his revenge.
