No those are not star explosions those are 30.000 planets that insurrection had taken to increase resources. There destroyed in 1 blast.

Commander Lloyd: 400th squadron has been defeated. But some escape to our planet hiding somewhere. Were still recon their last planet entry. We just confirmed that 30.000 planets (cabracan being one of them) that were completely destroyed by raizo li. U.d.f.'s most powerful soldier is back on the battle, he is extremely pissed off. All of these planets all of these planets where destroyed are still or was occupied by insurrection empire to increase their resources to grow there military might now gone. This will lead insurrection empire defeated soon. Its also where or not whiplash 2 alive or not i seeing his planet destroyed his planet did support insurrection empire's ideals after all.
