Kimberly was a Hufflepuff. Most Hufflepuffs hated the stereotype that all of them were nice and nothing more.

Kimberly was exactly that. She didn't like that stereotype, but she was that stereotype. She was incredibly kind and shy, so it made sense that she could never ask Ron out, no matter how much she fancied him.

Sally and Jane always teased her for that, but she would only pout and avoid the question at hand. How would she ever end up with Ron if she made no progress?

But she didn't only blame herself. She blamed Ron as well. She was certain he was always avoiding her, but she didn't know why. She had gone through a phase where she thought it was because her breath stank or she wasn't pretty enough or even because of her skin color.

Ron had such an effect on her, that she even questioned her own skin color. Sally and Jane had to spend hours convincing Kimberly it wasn't because of it, and even if it was, they wouldn't let Ron get away with it.

Every time Kimberly walked up to the Golden Trio, Ron would scurry away. Harry and Hermione would always give her concerned and sorry expressions, but she ignored them because she wasn't fond of pity or being embarrassed.

Hermione often scolded Ron for being such an idiot, while Harry would try to give him ideas of how to woo her. Ron did like Kimberly as well, but because of how thick he was, he never noticed she liked him back.

Almost everybody could see it, but they knew Ron was too dense to realize it. The two were quite compatible with their ignorance to the other's feelings.

Ron's feelings for Kimberly started in his fourth year when she warmed and dried him by casting a charm on him after he was rescued from the Black Lake. Her feelings started in her sixth year where she joined the Order of the Phoenix and encountered Ron in 12 Grimmauld Place.
