season one, episode two
( i'll take you there )

The band unloads their equipment from Warren's van. They were at the place Rod had called earlier, Filthy McNasty's. "What a... lovely name," Karen commented out.

Camila spun around the pole, "It's not so bad guys," She smiled as Eddie held the door for the rest of the band.

AUDREY: The name scared me at first glance... [Audrey looks down at her lap.] It wasn't that bad. It smelt like cigarettes and whiskey 24/7.

It was tight for about three weeks. I loved playing on the Strip. It was my biggest dream to play there one day. Especially for Teddy fucking Price. It was basically everyone's biggest dream.

"What did I say? The smaller the place, the bigger we play." Billy extended his arm out. "Pittsburgh on three."

The rest of the band placed their hands on top of Billy's. They all counted to three before they all shouted; Pittsburgh!

Warren whooped as the band walked to the stage as they all went to their instruments.

BILLY: Those eight, nine months in McNasty's, sure, hardly anyone ever saw us play, but that was where we really fell in love as a band, you know?

AUDREY: Camila recorded every performance, she would catch me and Eddie smiling at each other, Karen feeling her groove, and Graham eye fucking Karen all the time.

BILLY: The only problem was, we didn't get paid. Like, at all. And when people started coming to our gigs... they still weren't the people we needed. [Billy glances his head away from the camera]

AUDREY: We barely had enough to cover for rent, thanks to my dad for sending me more money. He didn't need to either way, we could've been perfectly fine without it. [Audrey fixes her hair] We wanted more.

The group was seated at a booth at a nearby diner, Camila was counting money as Eddie and Audrey were squished.

He had his arm around her and his other arm was on his lap.

CAMILA: Are you kidding? [smiles] Eddie and Audrey looked so adorable sitting like that. I wish I just had my camera to take a picture of them.

Eddie took another drink of his coffee. "What happened to that producer you went up with?" Eddie asked Camila as she was almost finished counting the money.

"The one with the parrot." Camila shook her head before glancing up to him.

"Parrot guy passed on us." Camila exchanged looks with everyone else at the booth.

"That is bleak," Eddie took toast from the plate before biting into it. He passed it to Audrey to take it from him, "You two might wanna save that toast for tomorrow." Camila announced.

"This is barley enough to cover the rent," Camila rested her chin on her palm. As Audrey took a bite of the toast, she realized what Camila had said.

"Fuck," Eddie mumbled as he picked up the last two pieces of toast from the plate and stuffed it into his pocket.

Warren took a puff out of his cigarette as the band stood quiet. "Fuck it, man." Warren started as he fixed his position. "Maybe... maybe old Chuckie was right, huh?" Warren confessed.

He put it out on an empty plate. "Maybe... maybe this all just a big mistake and we should've just stayed at home with our moms, and dads." He looked to Audrey. She folded her hands in her lap. "Save money on rent, become dentists."

Warren snuck in his seat before leaning his head onto Audrey's shoulder. Camila breathed as she set her palms flat on the table.

"I mean, I've sent out hundreds of photographs, and not a single fucking paper has responded." She shrugged, "I mean, should I just quit?"

Billy looked around to make sure no one was watching, he looked between the five of the band members, not including Camila because he knew that she wouldn't look as she was speaking.

He poured alcohol into his coffee. "Also, while we're talking about stuff, how come I'm the only one without a bed in the house? I share a room with Graham and he's the one who has a bed."

Billy threaded a hand through his hair, "Well, you could've taken Audrey and Karen's room." Warren shook his head. "No, I couldn't have. That room is haunted."

Audrey and Karen started to laugh. "Yeah, by us," Karen replied. "We mess with you guys all the time," Audrey added as she played with her hair. The boys start to argue with the three girls about the room being haunted.

Eddie picked up toast, "And I'm eating pocket toast, so..." Eddie narrowed his eyes as Audrey brought her mouth into a line before smiling.

"Yeah, yeah... I bet it tastes like lint now." Audrey observed the toast in his hand. Eddie glowered to Audrey as she raised a brow with a smile.

Karen noticed their tension but broke it up as she spoke the words, "Why are we still called The Dunne Brothers?"  She picked up her coffee.

Billy brought his head back. "I mean, four of us aren't Dunnes, and the last time I checked, I'm nobody's brother." Karen smiled as she drank from her cup.

"So you want to change our name?" Billy asked. Eddie lifted his cup, "I personally think that's a great idea." He muttered before drinking from his cup.

Billy took in the sight of Eddie as his eyes went wide. He licked his lips. "I'm just saying what everyone is thinking."

Audrey nodded, "Billy it's been a year. Karen and I are in the band now, we're no one's brothers." Audrey added into Eddie's words.

"Well, the name is the name, so..." He quickly smiled tilting his head as he did so. "That's how people know us."

Eddie nodded his head, "Yeah, but it's not exactly doing much for us, though, is it?" He snapped back at Billy.

Warren leaned back into the seat. "How about Immaculate Reception?" Warren asked his hand making gestures to the name.

Audrey shook her head, "That is the worst name for a band, Warren." Audrey laughed. "We're not changing the name," Billy started to sigh.

Graham finally had the chance to speak. He repositioned himself to sit up straight. "I mean, listen if we're throwing stuff out there, Hercules is still on the table!" Graham beamed in.

The four of them started to shake their heads. They told Graham no about the name. The overlapping chatter about the name is what made Graham sink back into his seat.

"Deliverance, Espionage, Poison." Eddie went on. "Eddie, the six of us won't agree on any of those names," Audrey responded.

"Okay, what about The Five?" Eddie asked. "Nah, man. There are too many Fives already." Warren chipped in.

"Yeah, like what bands?" Eddie appealed, "The Jackson Five, The Dave Clark Five. Everybody's The Five nowadays."

"There's Six of us." Billy added, "It would sound weird." Karen placed down her cup, "What about The Six? There are six of us, and it would make more sense than The Five."

Camila and Audrey nodded, "I like The Six." Graham concluded, Warren picked up his cup, "Sure as hell better than Hercules."

Camila laughs. The rest of the band was making fun of Graham for the name as his cheeks went red and leaned on the cold wall.
