Julie's eyes were wide like a deer caught in headlights. The students muttered to each other as they looked up at the girl on the stage.

Someone from backstage comes up beside her, "Hey, where'd the rest of the band go?"

"Wait. Were those holograms?" A girl from Carrie's group blurts out earning a nudge from Carrie.

Julie's jaw goes slack as she turns toward her. Layla pushes through students before running up the steps and standing beside her cousin.

"Yes!" Layla chuckles, "Yes, they were holograms. I plugged it into the ceiling projector
before the show."

"We'd explain it, but it involves algorithms and science stuff." Julie adds before the students start to clap

Layla looks over as she sees Reggie standing on the steps shaking his hips. The girl frowns as he goes back toward Alex and Luke who look confused and annoyed.

"Okay, people, show's over." The principal claps, "Let's get back to class, please."

The students start to make their way out of the gym. Layla notices the music teacher walking toward the stage.

"Oh, this is your chance, Jules. Let me know how it goes." Layla smiles before hurrying down the steps. She starts to make her way toward Janet. It seemed like her mind was going a million miles a minute.

"Okay, so they weren't holograms, they were ghosts?" Janet whispers as the two follow the other students out.

"Yup. I told you I wasn't lying."

"So, where did they go? They just vanished?"

"To everyone else they did, but Jules and I can still see them after the performance."

"That's insane." Janet says as they make their way to her locker. "What if it's like-"

"Layla, have you guys seen, Flynn?" Julie says frantically

"No, why what happened?" Her cousin says as the bell rings

Julie sighs, "I tried telling her about the- hologram band-"

"The ghosts." Janet corrects

Julie's eyes go wide as she stares back at them. She then turns to Layla, "I told her. I'm guessing Flynn saw right through your lie?"

"Yeah and she ran off. Before I could catch her, people were coming up to me about the band and I ran into Carrie. Long story short, I really need to find her."

"Okay, well let's go find her." Layla says as she pushes off of the locker with Julie and Janet at her side.

"Wouldn't she be in class? I mean, that's where everyone else is." Janet says

"Probably, but it wouldn't hurt to maybe look in the bathrooms or something." Layla shrugs as they turn the corner.

"Julie!" "Layla!"

Julie screams and Layla jumps as they stop. Janet stops as she looks around confused.

"What?" Janet says

"You! Stop doing that ! I'm serious." Julie says to them, but Janet can't see who she's talking to

"Whoa! This one's all on you. We were already here." Reggie says, "Well, actually, we were over there, and then we came over here."

"Are we not gonna talk about what just happened?" Luke says

"Yeah, the whole school saw you. It's kinda freaking me out." Julie says

"What is going on?" Janet says wide eyed as she turns to her best friend. Layla laughs as she looks down at her feet.

"The guys are here." She says looking up. Janet nods slowly, her eyes wide as she starts looking around.

"Okay, good, 'cause it's kind of freaking me out too." Alex rambles, "You know, you two could see us, and people could see us whenever we play music. And my clothes are made of air, but for some reason, I'm still getting a wedgie."

Layla and Julie both grimace as Luke rubs Alex's shoulder.

Alex inhales sharply, "So many questions."

"The important thing is that we rocked that place. They were loving you!" Luke says

"Are you kidding? They loved us. That was a great song, Luke. Thanks." Julie says. Luke nods to her with a smile.

"And did you guys see the cheerleaders looking at me? I think they were looking at me." Reggie says

"They weren't looking at you." Layla deadpans

"Please tell me they were looking at me." He says turning to Luke. Julie chuckles.

"Bro," Luke starts as he grabs his face, "they were looking at you."

"Oh, I knew it!"

"I'm so..." Alex starts, "I'm so confused, you know? The afterlife should come with instructions or a quick start guide or something."

"Well, the good thing is that everyone thought you guys were holograms," Julie says looking toward Layla, "and I got back into the program."

"Why do you look so bummed?" Reggie says as Julie looks down

"Yeah, dude, you're making this face." Luke says as he pulls the boys toward him and they all start to frown

"Hmph." Julie groans, "That... is not my face."

"Eh..."

"It's your face." Layla and Luke mutter. Luke smiles toward her as she chuckles.

"And things just got weird between me and Flynn. She asked about you guys, and I couldn't say."

"Sweet. Girls are already talking about us." Reggie whispers as he high fives Luke.

"Stop. I'm serious." Julie sighs

"Well, it seems like it went pretty okay with Layla." Luke points

The girl turns to her friend who seemed to be trying to grasp any part of the conversation she could from what Julie and Layla were saying.

"She's losing her mind over here trying to understand us." Layla says. Janet's eyes widen as she realizes she's talking about her.

"Oh my god, are they talking about me?" Janet says looking around

Layla reaches up and turns her head to the boys. "Yes, they are and you look insane."

"I can't tell her about you guys for the same reason I can't tell my dad. She'll think I've gone off the deep end."

"This dude definitely thinks you guys have gone off the deep end." Reggie points as he and Luke part for the janitor coming down the hall. The man grumbles as he looks weirdly toward the girls. The three awkwardly stand around as he passes them. Julie chuckles as he turns the corner.

"I gotta get back to class." Julie says as she walks between them.

"Later, Julie. Oh, tell those cheerleaders I'm single." Reggie says

"Oh, and that he's dead." Alex adds

"Oh no, no, no! Leave that part out." Reggie exclaims

Layla leads Janet down the hall seeing as the girl had yet to move from her spot. As she pushes the girl forward between the boys, she accidentally bumps Luke's arm when passing.

"Oh, sorry.." Layla starts, but trails off as she realizes she actually touched Luke. The boy looks toward her with furrowed brows.

Everyone else had yet to notice seeing as Janet and Julie were ahead of her and Alex and Reggie were arguing about the cheerleaders.

Layla blinks slowly before shaking her head slightly and continuing on. Luke watches her as she catches up with her friend and cousin.
