With a heavy sigh, Muse A tightened their grip around the stem of the flower in their hand. Were they really going to do this?

It felt like just yesterday they were saying goodbye to their ex at the airport. Despite the heart ache that echoed through their chest at the departure of both them and their relationship, Muse A still supported them.

Even a year, eight months, and twenty days later, Muse A was still undeniably in love with them. So why were they on this blind date ? Holding a flower meant for someone who wouldn't even hold a candle to their past lover?

Muse A knew there was no way that this person, whoever they may be, would be the one. They felt like their soulmate had already gotten away.

But Muse A had been hounded again and again by their friend/coworker to start putting themselves out there. Claiming they wouldn't be able to move on if they didn't try.

Which was true, this blind date would be the first attempt at them trying to date once more. The least they could do is try.

Crazier things had happened in the world than a blind date going well.

After ordering a coffee, Muse a asked the barista if she had seen a person wearing white carrying a box of chocolate. Explaining the blind date situation, the barista directed Muse A to the back of the coffee shop.

Saying their thanks, they walked past the small circular tables to a booth sitting near the window, trying to stay as optimistic about the situation as possible.

But the sight of the person in the booth made their throat go dry, tears well up in their eyes.

Muse B had been sitting at the booth, awaiting the arrival of their blind date. Hearing footsteps approach, they tilted their head uo slightly, tongue darting out to wipe the foam off their lip from their coffee, only to see Muse A standing, shell shocked in front of them.

Their ex. And what were they holding? The same flower her blind date had agreed to bring.

➤Obviously, they would be mature adults. Starting over could be in the cards for them, but one of them may be weary since they didn't work out before.
