——MISCHIEF always prevailed. 

CRESSIDA LAURIER bled mischief like a secondary skin, embedded in the marrow of her bones and shadowed in false purity. She wore it as a disguise, as a mask, until reputation took over reality and what lay beneath was left only to the whims of imagination.

She liked it better that way. Maybe it would keep her heart safe.

THE MARAUDERS saw it as their calling to pull the levers and strings of hilarity. A group of boys that bent the odds, they slathered the cobblestone walls of Hogwarts with their ability to imbue the warmth of laughter within anyone. Four boys, with personalities magnetized to each other. True best friends, scarred and secretive and utterly protective of one another in every way possible.

JAMES POTTER, with eyes of caramel pools hidden by glass and a smirk of intoxication, refused to be the spoiled kid his name, and act, vowed to perceive him as. Yet, his pride would undoubtedly be his ultimate downfall.

He had to win in every possible situation. He saw gold as his right and sought to latch onto it with everything he had. Impulsive. It would be what set him against the always-challenging Cressida Laurier, the firecrackers of her eyes exploding within his veins. 

Annoyance, he called it. 

She would call it hatred.

Danger would overcome their competition, setting fires and prodding nerves until eventually... something had to give way.

Cressida Laurier, with her saccharine smile and eyes of scattered constellations, had no plans to give up her gold to James Potter.
