" ๐•ฎome on. Get up", Mia whines plopping down on the edge of the bed, pouting as she faces her sister.

Darlene ignores her and continues chewing on her jam covered bread with Lorelai Gilmore complaining about her mother on the laptop screen.

"You haven't left the house in two weeks. Get up, this isn't healthy".

"I'm right where I'm supposed to be", the blonde mumbles through a mouthful of bread, a tiny slicker of jam sticking to the corner of her mouth.

She licks her lips clean and places the now empty, crumb covered plate aside before leaning her head back into the pillow supporting her.

Mia narrows her eyes observing her sister avoid her and act as if this is the most normal thing in the world.

She showed up ten minutes ago expecting to see Darlene dressed up to go out for dinner, instead what she was greeted by was a scowl, some annoyed mutterings and a still ongoing Gilmore Girls binge watch session.

Oh, and don't forget the variety of snacks casually lying by the bed.

Some days are better than most but for the past one month, there just hasn't been any better days.

For the first half of June, she somehow hauled herself out of bed and did what she had to do.

Even went out for a morning coffee run to the nearest Starbucks because she couldn't let herself be sucked in by the emptiness.

Slowly and gradually, everything started going downhill.

There just wasn't any point in going out for coffee when she had an adequately functioning coffee maker at home.

There seemed no need to go out for evening walks in the neighbourhood when she could spend that time holled up inside reading instead.

All interest and excitement in leaving the house for weekend farmer's markets was diminished when she realised that she could just as well order organically grown veggies and fruits online.

Apparently, with the entire world at your fingertips, staying in and letting the pit of loneliness take over you and suck all of your energy out is a much better option than getting out and reminding yourself that you're alive.

She couldn't lie to her family, not like she saw any reason to either, and so she'd very openly declared in the family chat that she hadn't been leaving the house lately because staying in so much more fun.

Everyone knew what this meant.

That the periodic depressive episodes were back, and with no one around to look after her, she was only going down.

Down down down into a hole dug up just for her, her struggles for breath could not be heard from this below the earth and weirdly, her twisted mind found comfort in that.

So, Mia had volunteered to go check up on her come Friday โ€” even taking up the task of texting her and asking her to be ready for dinner that night.

Upon arriving though, she'd found that Darlene had not only forgotten about their dinner date, but also chosen to stuff herself with snacks while binge watching her favourite show.

It could be seen as a sweet way of spending one's night were it not related to her depression.

They'd all tried to get her into therapy for quite some time now but nothing helped.

Because she just simply doesn't see the point in going to therapy when she can't communicate her problems with the people she's close to.

She has chosen to believe that she's not as "fucked up" for therapy and that, her seasonal depression and mood swings are just her being hormonal.

Which is pretty ironic considering the fact that feeling dead inside for long stretches of time isn't exactly a sign of being anything less than "fucked up".

"Dar, please. This isn't okay and you know that. You've had everything delivered to your house just so you don't have to step out. You're twenty two, not eighty-three".

"If I can have it delivered, why should I leave and waste fuel? Technically, I'm being very eco friendly", she snaps pulling up the strap of her tank top.

"You're being ridiculous. Let's go out for dinner, my treat. How about pizza?", Mia sighs.

Darlene shakes her head, "Not in the mood for pizza".

"McDonald's?".

"Order takeout".

Mia groans rubbing at her face in frustration.

"You have to leave the house someday".

"But not today", she shrugs.

"Darlene".

"Mia, shush. Jess just came on", she waves her off leaning forward with scrunched brows.

"I didn't wanna do this but you're making things really difficult".

Her words earn the blonde's attention who instantly pauses the show.

"I'm staying over for the weekend".

Darlene scoffs.

"Fine. Take the guest room".

The brunette exhales and shifts to sit beside her sister on the bed.

She'll treat this as a win.
