Atlas Addams was only 18 years old when he became responsible for another human's life. Don't get him wrong he loves his daughter but the way she was thrust into his arms was traumatizing.

Her mother had been killed in front of him. The person who killed her called himself the Cleanser. He 'cleansed' women who had sinned, and since Maria had premarital sex, she was on his list. He believed he had the ability to clean and rebirth the women he killed into pure souls.

The 'Cleanser' had murdered thirteen women, aged between 15-35 before he was caught by the FBI's behavioral analysis unit, the BAU.

The lead profiler at the time, Aaron Hotchner, had inspired Atlas to become someone who helps others but with having a child to take care of, it won't be until 2011 that he finally becomes a profiler.

When introduced to the team, he keeps to himself, knowing if people knew about his daughter, then the bad people from their life could know about her. It would kill him if something happened to the only good thing in his life.

The only person who knew about her was Aaron, who was now his boss, his 'mentor'. Atlas doesn't really know what to call someone who from time to time helped him in his journey to becoming an agent.

The people that came and went in their lives were the reason he locked his heart in a box, he didn't want her to get attached just to be disappointed when they leave, he tells himself when in reality it's him who gets attached too quickly and gets left heartbroken.

When Spencer Reid accidentally stumbles upon Atlas's secret, he must keep that secret from a team full of professional profilers who are kind of nosey.
