chapter nine—thrill ride o' love

Back at camp half-blood it's still going great Victoria was written with Adeline she hasn't gotten any response so she hopes she is okay.

Victoria walked out of her cabin and a boy came up to her and started to talk to her. She smiled and laughed. Clarisse noticed her but had a weird feeling of jealousy.

Clarisse? Being jealous?? Who would have thought? Clarisse walked up to them "Hey! Victoria!" Victoria smiled "Oh hey Clarisse! I'll talk with you later!" She said to the guy and started walking with her. "What's going on?"

"Nothing.. just wanna talk? Who even is that?" Clarisse said. Victoria looked back "Uh one of my friends why??" Clarisse sighed "No reason."

Victoria smiled at her was she jealous or something? Victoria would have never thought Clarisse would be jealous of her hanging out with other people.

Victoria sighed it was time "So wanna do something later? Like just me and you? Maybe try and sneak out and go to the lake at night?"

Clarisse stood in front of her "Really? Me and you??" Victoria nodded "If you don't want to.."

Clarisse interrupted her "No.. stop. I didn't say I didn't want to. Yeah, I'll do it." Victoria smiled so.. was this a date?

And now back with Adeline and Percy. They were walking together it took so long it's now nighttime!

But they finally made it to the amusement park.

"I've seen a lot of horror movies and this is exactly the kind of place not to enter" Adeline said as they stood in front of it.

Some lights were working and it was creepy no one was there. "You a horror movie fan?" Percy said as they started to walk in.

Adeline nodded softly "Huge one... I bet I've seen almost every horror movie and never gotten scared!" Percy saw a little gate to walk through. But Adeline knew something was wrong.

"Wait Percy stop!" She said. He froze and he was stuck something was moving above his head.

Adeline remembered her Aunt told her about this "Okay hold still! I remember my aunt telling me about this before! In the mechanism, so I think it's a celestial bronze..? That's what the sword is made of! If you're a human it will pass right through you, if you're a monster or a demigod."

"What's it doing there??" Percy said in a nervous tone. Adeline signed "I have no idea! But I know this is not just some amusement park.. do you think.. a god built this?"

Percy looked up "What kind of god builds amusement parks??" Adeline thought "Oh maybe uh.. what's the name? Oh, Hephaestus!"

"Why would Hephaestus build one?!" Percy said. Adeline decided to crack up a joke "Maybe he finds them amusing??"

Percy looked at her "That's really not funny Adeline." She laughed softly "Right sorry! Just Push through it I guess we don't have a choice!"

Percy sighed he trusted Adeline. He did and made it through nothing happened. "Huh... I guess it's a test or something? To see if we were afraid"

Adeline walked through the gate after making it safely. "How do I know all this..?" Adeline said as they started walking around to find the shield. Now back with the others.

Ares was laughing at his phone and Annabeth, Inez, and Grover sat there. "This is the worst day ever" Inez said laying her head on the table. 

Grover started to talk with Ares and stuff telling him he's a big fan of him. Annabeth spoke with Inez "What did you mean by 'especially with someone like Annabeth with us'"

Inez sat up fully "It means you're smart! Like really smart and you always know what to do I mean without you we would probably all be dead. Annabeth you led this group. You never hesitate to do anything!" Inez said in a low voice so Ares and Grover couldn't hear.

"You really think so?" Annabeth said looking at her with her head tilted Inez nodded "Yeah. I mean daughter of Athena? Fucking badass"

Annabeth laughed softly. "I guess it would be nice to call you my friend." Inez felt honored "Wow Annabeth? Calling me her friend!"

Annabeth chuckled as they continued to talk more building a relationship between them they never knew what was coming.

Now back with Adeline and Percy. They walked around the amusement park "This is so cool! I've always wanted to come to one of these! All these rides look amazing"

"Maybe this belongs to the god of craftsman, and if it does what was the god of war doing here aren't they enemies? then why did he split without his shield?"

Adeline remembered more things her aunt told her "Didn't my dad.. I guess I should say now have a thing with Aphrodite? That's Victoria's mom!"

"He met her here! In her husband's park?? That's so wrong" Percy said. Adeline nodded "They got caught and he had to leave in a hurry. God this family is a mess"

Just then a ride lit up with pink lights and hearts it said 'Thrill ride o' love'

"This must be where Ares and Aphrodite got caught. The shield must be in there! We just gotta go get it" Adeline said.
