Dear Mother,

I know I said I would have the contact brew down by now, but I don't. That's why I've asked the messenger of the village we're passing through right now to send you this letter. Sorry I didn't send you one sooner, I thought it might be better if you try to forget me for the time being. You did it so well when father left, I guessed it would be the same for my disappearance.

I hope these past two years have been treating you well. Sorry, correction; year and five months. Because I was in my meditation state for five months and I have been traveling the kingdom with my friends for a year. Time has flown by for me, it's a bit crazy.

Speaking of my meditation state, I am sorry to disappoint you but it didn't do much for me. I know you really wanted me to follow in your footsteps, and I'm still trying, but nothing has been working. I can still only do minimal spells and I haven't bothered to try anymore hexes these past few years.

But I should be coming home soon. By the time you get this letter we will have reached the capital and hopefully put an end to the horrifying things going on throughout the kingdom. Maybe you can help me when I get back.

For now Asui has been stimulating my magic centers to the best of her ability. It's still not the best since she is not a naturally born magic user, but it will do.

Wish us luck. Much love,

Serafina Enomoto.

▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁

Serafina sighed as she proofread the letter once more, doubt popping up in her mind and clouding her thoughts. She hated spitting excuse after excuse into her mother's face, but it was nature.

The witch (she could hardly call herself that at this point) let her head fall onto her knees and closed her eyes. The green clover patch she sat on brought some comfort, as did the sunlight that trickled through the canopy of leaves, but it wasn't much.

What was the point? Serafina was almost 18. If by now she hadn't awakened her powers, then would she ever?

"Serafina, ribbit," a voice interrupted her moping. The aforementioned didn't budge, glancing to her close friend from behind her raven locks. "We found an inn that allows vampires. First thing tomorrow we'll be leaving."

With no response given, Tsu sighed. In the past weeks the wizard had begun to change, her research obviously taking a toll on her body. Her cheeks had a bit of a green tinge now, similar to Momo's whole body, along with her hair. Her mouth had gotten a bit bigger to accommodate her growing tongue and now her arms were always folded oddly when she walked.

And of course there was the ribbit-ing.

None of them minded much, Tsuyu would always be their friend after all, but it struck a low chord in Enomoto. Asui was making major strides with her magic everyday, and here she was, throwing a pity party in the middle of a foreign woods.

The talented wizard herself sat beside the witch, looking around at their surroundings before settling her eyes on her friend.

Tsu thought the opposite of Serafina. When she set her eyes on Serafina, all she could see was the bubbling potential that so desperately wanted to burst forth. Serafina's bones held the rich history of all magic users, their cries of agony as they sat tied to a fire and their mystical laughter as they discovered a final ingredient.

Tsuyu admired Serafina wholly. That admiration only strengthened as glanced to the witch's palm which gripped the grass in anger, four leaf clovers sprouting from beneath her fingertips.

"Serafina?" She called. The girl simply let out a low hum in response. "Have you ever thought about how those pumpkins stayed perfectly healthy in those five months?"

That caught Enomoto's attention, piquing her curiosity. She lifted her head off of her knees, just slightly.

"No?" She answered. "I assumed someone came and tended to them every once in awhile."

Tsu shook her head with a small chuckle. "Not in a million years. I recommended that spot for your meditation because I knew most people avoided it."

Serafina's eyes widened and her back straightened as it dawned on her what the wizard was hinting at. Complete shock enveloped her body and froze her joints.

So as she soaked in the new information, the two sat on the forest floor in complete silence.
