Dakota sat by her bay window waiting for Shawn. she was absolutely pissed by his absence. he told her he'd only be gone an hour yet it was all night.

she told her father she was going to bed but instead, she waited for Shawn to come home.

she saw him climb up the fire escape and carefully open her window. her room was pitch black so he couldn't see her.

"welcome home slut." Shawn nearly had a heart attack and fell on the ground while climbing in. "don't do that." he said.

"where were you?" she crossed her arms. "out with Davie." Shawn answered. "for five hours? what the hell did you guys do all night?"

"We saw a movie and then went to chubbies," Shawn said. "I covered your ass for five hours when you said you'd only be gone an hour." Dakota stood up.

"Sorry, mom." Shawn walked out of her room. Dakota walked after him. "I'm not done with you." she walked into his room.

"you owe me even more now. my dad thinks your in bed with a migraine." Dakota said. "well better stop yelling so you don't wake him." Shawn said.

"This isn't yelling." Dakota said. "this is yelling!" she yelled.

"Okay, be quiet," Shawn said. "I'm sorry. I should have been home earlier. I owe you a lot."

"damn right." Dakota said. "god, your ego is enormous." Shawn took his shirt off.

"uh..what are you doing?" Dakota asked. "changing." Shawn took his pants off. "with me in here?" Shawn shrugged. "it's my room."

Dakota stared at Shawn who was only in his underwear. she couldn't help but stare. his abs were perfect and looked soft. he truly had such a god-like body.

"your staring." Shawn chuckled. "no I'm not." Dakota said. "whatever." Shawn smirked and got in bed. "you sleep in your underwear?" Dakota asked.

"yes. it's very comfortable." Dakota rolled her eyes. "whatever." she said then walked into her room.
___

the next morning Dakota was sitting at the kitchen island eating her breakfast. "so, got that exam today, huh?" Johnathan asked.

"Unfortunately. why can't Feeny ever go easy on us? he's been the same since kindergarten. you know, it's crazy he's been my history teacher all my life." Dakota said. Johnathan laughed.

Shawn walked into the room. "hey, Hunter. are you feeling better?" Johnathan asked. "huh?" Shawn asked, clueless.

"Dakota told me you had a headache. are you feeling better?" Shawn still looked clueless so Dakota gave him a look. "oh, yeah, right. yeah, I'm feeling better." Jonathan nodded.

"We better get to school." Johnathan grabbed his bag. "let's go." Shawn walked out the door.

"Is he excited to get to school?" Johnathan asked. "well, ever since he met Davie he's always been excited." Dakota grabbed her backpack.

"huh, he must like Davie." Jonathan said. "yeah, a little too much." Dakota mumbled.

at school, Dakota had finished her exam for Feeny's class and was at her locker fixing her hair.

"Dakota, I need advice." Shawn ran up to her. "everybody needs advice from me." Dakota said.

"how do you ask a girl to be your girlfriend?" Dakota raised her eyebrows. "what do you mean?"

"I wanna ask Davie to be my girlfriend," Shawn said. "Shawn, you just met the girl yesterday." Dakota chuckled. "yeah, but I really like her."

Dakota crossed her arms. "don't you think this is a little fast." Shawn shrugged. "Davies a fast girl."

"what about your two-week rule?" Dakota asked. "that's..." Shawn trailed off. "that's different. I've finally found a girl who I really like." Shawn said.

"well if she's as fast as you think then just ask her. I'm sure she'll say yes considering how she's obsessed with you." Dakota said.

"you think she's obsessed with me?" Shawn asked. "she was all over you at lunch yesterday. she wouldn't stop touching you. it was kinda ruining my appetite. plus she came over and asked if you were single." Dakota closed her locker.

"Like what do I say?" Shawn asked. Dakota sighed. "be yourself. that's all a girl wants in a guy." Dakota said.

"what if she doesn't like the real me? what if she only likes the flirty, player me?" Shawn asked. "then she's an idiot." Dakota said then walked away.

the truth was Dakota was the idiot. she had turned down Shawn all those years. then when she finally starts to like him a little and starts to see who he really is, Davie comes to town.

Shawn was the only person who saw the real Dakota. not the Dakota that every man wants to be with. the Dakota that just wants to be loved and actually cares for people but is scared to hurt them or get hurt.

but I mean, how long were he and Davie gonna last really? a month at tops.
