When Kazuya Sasaki looked at Gojo Satoru all he saw was a man who had everything he didn't deserve. Just like any sorcerer (and Gojo was a special grade sorcerer which didn't help his case) he did not deserve the lazy smirk plastered across his smug features or the expensive watch wrapped around his wrist. Most of all he did not deserve Megumi Fushiguro's admiration.

In Kazuya's eyes, no one deserved to have a relationship with Megumi like he did. And yet here was Gojo, sitting across from the two teens and wearing a smug grin as if he knew what the blonde was thinking.

"School starts in exactly 42 days," their elder hummed with an air of amusement. Kazuya continued to remain stoic with a simple nod of agreement, yet under the table and out of sight his legs trembled with anger. Only the tapping of Megumi's fingers on his thigh held him back.

When neither of the boys answered Gojo he shrugged and glanced towards the kitchen. "Jeez, how long are those noodles gonna take?"

"I know why Megumi asked me here," Sasaki spoke up right after Gojo's offhand statement. His voice was firm. "And it's not going to happen." Satoru simply chuckled. He didn't move an inch from his laid back position whereas Sasaki leaned forward to glare at the man.

"I think if you truly wanted to leave sorcery behind," Gojo noted, "you would have dumped Fushiguro ages ago." A slender finger curled around the top of his blindfold as if he were going to pull it down, but retracted after a moment of hesitation.

"He has nothing to do with it."

"He has everything to do with it." Kazuya didn't like the correction but let Gojo continue anyway. "It's not coincidence you two became friends in elementary school. Two young boys descended from two of the most powerful sorcerer clans?"

Even this claim came as a surprise to Fushiguro whose eyebrows furrowed. "You're saying it was planned—"

"Well, not in that way, not really," Gojo immediately brushed it off in a way that made Sasaki's blood boil. "I simply meant the universe has its ways."

"That's idiotic," Kazuya spat. "I don't want to hear anything else about sorcery from your mouth. I'm not going to Jujutsu Tech."

"What, so you're just gonna leave your boyfriend behind? Wow, all of Mio's hard work in school and her son is just going to laze around and—"

Megumi didn't have time to blush at his mentor's claims, not when Kazuya harshly slammed his hands against the table and stood to his feet. The pure fury in Kazuya's eyes would probably melt away the pure blue in Gojo's if the coward wasn't hiding behind black cloth. Kazuya didn't remember the Sasaki Clan genocide all that much but what he envisioned was a mound of bodies draped in red, mangled upon the floors of his home.

At the top of the gory mountain was Megumi Fushiguro, laying lifeless as the sorcerer elders shook their heads in a false pity.

Kazuya would never understand why Megumi was so intent on making that vision a reality. Why he wanted to drag Kazuya with him to die hand in hand. Kazuya didn't want to die, not now and not in the next sixty years. Not in the same way everyone had before him that day.

If Megumi had different intentions that day Kazuya would never know for he scrambled out of the bench and back home on his lonesome, ready to pretend that the dinner with Gojo Satoru had never shaken him up.
