Gojo Satoru had once told Kazuya Sasaki that his hatred for sorcery had to of been taught. A three year old would not watch their whole bloodline get viciously murdered and then 'swear revenge on a whole society' according to the elder (Sasaki was only 11 when Satoru had claimed that, he doesn't even remember why they had the conversation).

Kazuya Sasaki disagreed with that statement more than he disagreed with any other. His hatred had been planted by his own green thumb, growing and forming through each birthday. His hatred festered under his own command. He vowed that he was the conductor and his rage was the singing choir.

But there was an audience member that tended to have an influence on Kazuya.

Mio Sasaki had once been revered as the heir of her clan. She could have been a sorcerer with talent rivaling that of Gojo himself. She was confident in her walk because her relatives had raised her insisting she was meant to be a Queen that would kill the Kings that infected the world.

Mio found out that true power was unattainable the day the Sasaki Clan died, and so Mio stopped her fruitless efforts. She shunned the same society that had wasted two and a half decades of her life.

Mio and Kazuya were one in the same in that way, which is why he tended to confide in her on lots of things. They shared the same destiny, the same tragic past, and the same wishes for one another. There was no one who could understand him more than himself.

Kazuya knew the question would ruin Mio's good mood though, which is why he was so hesitant to approach her where she stood in the kitchen. Michi lingered not too far, her laugh echoing throughout the halls.

Their faces only brightened further when they caught sight of their son shuffling forward. The two women loved him more than anything; even if they still had the clan's property and fortune left, Kazuya was truly all that mattered in their hearts. They would light the matches under the foundation of their own home for their child.

"You need to talk with us?" Mio asked for confirmation at his words. Her tone did not have a hint of surprise (once again, Kazuya often went to her for things as a child should do with their parent). "What about, kid?"

Kazuya came straight out with it. It had been three days since the seed was planted in his mind and there was genuinely no reason to wait any longer. "What if I went to Jujutsu Tech?"

He didn't regret asking the question in the slightest (it was better to get it off his chest and the temptation off his mind), but the way Michi shakily reached up to grab at the fabric on her chest did make his heart stutter. Mio simply sighed and picked up the mug of tea that had been cooling beside her.

"That is what you were born to do," his mother huffed irritably. "Sorcery flows through your veins, just as it does mine. So I have no right to hold you back from it. All I ask is that you make sure you're going for yourself and no other reason."

"Damn," was all Kazuya could mutter, "you really thought this over."

Mio pursed her lips. "Of course I have. My worst fear is that you are forced to become a jujutsu sorcerer. Michi doesn't want it anymore than I do." Michi nodded her head shakily.

"You said make sure I go for myself?"

"Normal people choose high schools based on where their friends are going too," Michi noted and Mio placed a hand on her forearm.

"You should not be making a life changing decision based on what Fushiguro wants. If you go to Jujutsu Tech it will because it is what you want. But no matter what you choose in the end we will be there to fight for you." Kazuya tried not to back down from the stern gaze Mio held, and he knew in that moment that she was adamant about what she was saying.

If Kazuya decided to attend Jujutsu Tech simply based on Megumi's desires, then Mio would find out and reign hell upon every single cursed spirit and human alike.

With that in mind, was there any point in changing the same plans he had for his whole life?
