I always knew there was something different about me. I grew up with the notion that we were hiding from something, but my parents wouldn't allow me to learn what exactly. That is, until i decided to learn on my own. A strange symbol would appear to me that I had never seen before, one so mysterious that wasn't in normal textbooks to be learned about. I was more than intrigued with the notion of it, hypnotized by the mere sight of it. It had meaning somehow, but I wouldn't figure that out until he came into my life.

"So you're the one who's been following me?" A blue eyed, blonde haired looker with no inkling of emotion within his features, stared back at me as we circled each other in the alley behind my favorite coffee shop I frequent, books in hand that I had hoped would help me understand myself and what I'm seeing.

"What you saw last night wasn't by accident. You saw it because you're one of us. You'd only forgotten me because of your parents." I scrunched my eyes in clear focus of what he was talking about, revealing a memory within my mind that I had recently been dreaming of.

"(Y/N)! We must go sweetheart. Valentine is here. We can't risk him seeing us. Come with mommy." My hand had been connected with a blonde haired, little boy with striking blue eyes and a smile that warmed my little heart. He was my best friend. I could tell.

"What about JC? Can he come with us mommy? Please....?" But it hadn't worked. Dragging me away, tears rolled down my pale cheeks to the ground below, watching as our grip lost one another and eventually, I lost him all together. Running was our only option. But I had lost so much......

My eyes widened in complete shock, analyzing every single inch of him that I could focus on. He now had tattoos, shoulder length hair and a scowl that seemed rather permanent because of what I knew was his past.

"Jace...?" He didn't say a word, only stared at me as confirmation of what I knew to be true. He'd been following me every since we saw each other at the club the other night. I saw him killing what I assumed was an otherworldly figure. I assumed right.

"You know your parents have kept you from remembering. But I can see you have been fighting it." Fighting what exactly, I didn't know. But I did know that there was an entirely different world out there that had been kept from me since I was little. And Jace was apart of that world I once knew. He was the most prominent thing I could remember about it. The only thing.

"What am I.....?" I softly uttered to him with my eyes searching his blue ones for any sort of answer. He'd clearly always remembered me, judging by how he was assessing me to the fullest.

"A Shadow Hunter. That's who you're supposed to be. That's why I'm going to train you." I took a deep breath, knowing this would go against everything my parents did to protect me. But they couldn't forever. And I have to make my own choices. Jace was my future. I knew this.

"Let's do what we have to do."
