the group had made it back to the dropship, all bellamy could think about was seeing arabella again. they all came to a stop just outside the camp.

"it's too quiet." bellamy whispered, glancing at finn and kane.

"we'll take it from here." kane spoke, turning his head to some of the guards. "banks, scanlon, you stay with them." he told them. "we'll signal once we're sure it's safe."

part of the group split off towards the camp, their eyes sharp as they searched for grounders. bellamy and finn exchanged a glance. a few moments passed, and bellamy was pacing anxiously just waiting to see arabella.

"we need a stretcher!" someone shouted from inside the camp.

bellamy and finn ran up towards the entrance, just to be stopped by the guards. the two glanced at each other and nodded, taking off to get into the camp another way.

"hey, hold it right there!" the guard yelled.

"get back here!"

they ran through one of the foxholes and were shocked to see the state their old home was in.

"where is everyone?" bellamy asked, his voice still rough.

"it was awful. there were hundreds of them." bellamy heard murphy's voice leaving the dropship, kane had one of his arms around his shoulder to keep him standing up. "there were hundreds of them and if it wasn't for raven- ugh- i don't know what happened.

bellamy stared at murphy with rage, he had hurt arabella twice. the two men began walking closer to murphy and kane. murphy stopped walking when he saw bellamy and finn.

"bellamy. you're... you're alive." murphy spoke, a tinge of fear in his voice.

bellamy walked closer to murphy, then he suddenly grabbed a hold of murphy, throwing him to the ground. "you murdering son of a bitch!" bellamy yelled. "you hurt arabella again! do you remember what i told you?! huh?!" bellamy pulled back his fist and swung it into murphy's face.

"bellamy! stop!" finn shouted, but bellamy ignored him, still throwing punches to murphy's face.

"where's arabella?!" bellamy yelled at murphy.

murphy couldn't get any words out, but then bellamy felt sharp jolts into his side, he came off of murphy and landed on his back. kane stood over him, looking down at the man.

"place him under arrest." he spoke to one of the guards.

"wait. you don't understand. murphy murdered two of our people, he shot another one, tried to hang bellamy and hurt your daughter." finn tried to reason with the man.

there was a flash of anger on kane's face for a moment when finn mentioned arabella getting hurt. "i don't care. you are not animals. there are rules. laws." kane looked at bellamy. "you are not in control here anymore."

...

after arabella had calmed down she was escorted to dante's office with clarke. there was a blank look on her face and once again she didn't want to talk to anyone.

the doors opened and some music played from dante's office. his back was turned to the girls as he was painting. "lose the handcuffs." he paused for a moment. "on both of them."

the two guards took off the handcuffs on them, arabella let her hands fall to her sides, softly rubbing her wrists where the handcuffs had dug into her skin.

"there's a blank canvas if you'd like." dante said to clarke, pointing over to the canvas.

arabella saw clarke shake her head. "i used to paint the ground, too."

"it's not just the ground." dante told her. "it's a memory."

"you've been outside?" clarke questioned, glancing at arabella who had pulled out a chair to sit down on.

"yes. fifty-six years ago." the man replied as he continued to paint. "for five minutes. i was seven when the first of what we call the outsiders appeared. before that, we thought we were all there was. imagine our surprise."

"we don't have to imagine." clarke simply spoke, glancing at arabella again who didn't even look like she was listening to the conversation. her eyes and face were blank as she stared at the wall.

"my father, this was his office at the time, believed it meant that the earth was survivable again, and so, he opened the doors." dante paused for a moment. "within a week, fifty-four people were dead from the exposure. my mother and sister among them." dante finally turned around to face the girls. "loss... pain, regret. time eases these things, girls, but the only time it's ever truly gone is when i'm painting."

clarke was silent for a moment. "you didn't bring me here to talk about painting. did you?"

"i'm afraid i have bad news." he began, arabella's head moved to look at him but her expression was still blank and her eyes still cold. "our patrols have swept the area and found no evidence of survivors, either at your camp or from the ark."

"how can they be sure?" clarke asked the man.

"they can't." dante shook his head as he spoke. "i've ordered them to keep searching."

"we both need to see for ourselves." clarke almost yelled.

"i'm sorry i can't allow that. i'm doing this for your own good. it's not safe out there."

"radiation has no effect on us."

"it's not the radiation i'm concerned about." dante argued, his voice seemingly getting angry. he raised his hand and the doors to his office opened and the two guards walked in. "you need time to grieve. these men will show you to your room."

clarke took in a breath. "and if we try to leave?" she questioned.

"please don't test me, girls."

arabella stood up from her chair, making the guards step closer to her. she rolled her eyes and raised her hands in defence. clarke shook her head, grabbed arabella's hand and left the room, the guards close behind them.

arabella and clarke were shown to their room, they had a bunk bed. arabella on the bottom and clarke on the top. apparently, there was supposed to be another meal, another welcome to mount weathers forty-nine survivors, but arabella just tucked herself into the bed and slept, ignoring everyone around her.

once the meal was over, everyone began flooding back into the room. jasper walked over to arabella, sitting on the side of her bed.

"i hope you're okay, arabella." he smiled at the girl. "i miss it when you were shouting orders at everyone already." jasper let out a small laugh, but his small smile fell when arabella just closed her eyes. "i'm here for you." was the last thing he said before walking away and sitting on the bed with monty.

arabella heard jasper and monty's voices from the bunk bed beside her, she looked at them as they spoke with smiles on their faces, and then clarke came over. the blonde girl knelt close to arabella.

"we'll get out of here." she whispered. "you'll be with him again soon." clarke smiled, moving some of arabella's dark hair out of her face with a soft smile.

...

it was the next morning and arabella still hadn't moved or said a word to anyone. she wasn't sure why she would stop talking when she was upset, she had done it since she was a kid, but as she got older, the worse it would be.

she heard that miller had been released, usually, if arabella wasn't in the state she was currently in, she would've run to him and hugged him, but right now? arabella still didn't move an inch and wouldn't until clarke would find them a way out of mount weather.

arabella flinched when she heard an alarm go off. she heard people around her jump up and panic, but she didn't move.

...

a few hours had passed and everyone had left the room for meal time, arabella saw clarke enter the room with a plate of food.

"you need to eat, ella." clarke softly told her, placing the plate on the bedside table.

"finally found a nickname for me, clarkey?" arabella whispered, a small laugh escaping her lips.

clarke shrugged with a smile. "i like to consider myself a friend, so nicknames had to come into the mix."

arabella nodded, her eyes glancing at the food. "i don't trust them."

"i know. me neither, i thought they were lying to us... but i was wrong." clarke spoke, shaking her head.

arabella looked at clarke with a confused look.

"a body came in earlier, i saw it and it looked like a bullet wound. i asked wallace about it, i asked to see the body and... it looked like an arrow wound." clarke explained, sitting herself on the side of arabella's bed.

arabella was silent for a moment. "screw it, so what if you were wrong about one thing?"

people began to enter the room, miller immediately came over to arabella, a smile on his face. "hey, arabella."

arabella smiled at him. "hey, miller. i'm glad you're okay."

arabella saw jasper come over to clarke. "what did president wallace say?" he asked.

"he showed me shaw's body." clarke spoke, her tone different to when she was speaking with arabella. "it looked like an arrow wound."

"well, maybe because it is an arrow wound." jasper shrugged, clearly noticing the tone in clarke's voice.

"or that's what they want us to think." clarke shot back, standing up from arabella's bed.

arabella moved up so miller could sit next to her, both of them interested in the conversation. arabella saw the look on jasper's face as he spoke to clarke, as did she.

"what? they could have doctored it."

"clarke, you sound like a crazy person." jasper whispered.

"hey, watch it, jasper." arabella warned, not liking the way he was speaking to clarke.

jasper glanced at arabella, then he looked back at clarke. "why do you both wanna screw this up for us?" he asked.

miller looked at arabella with wide eyes, shocked at jasper's words to the girls.

"i don't know what this is." clarke looked around the room.

"this is... safe. this is food, a real bed, clothes." jasper told her, looking at arabella and miller. "and my personal favourite- not getting speared by grounders." the boy's voice turned into a hushed whisper. "how long do you think they'll let us stay here if you both keep this up?" he asked.

arabella clenched her jaw and clarke stayed silent for a moment until she stepped closer to jasper. "did someone threaten you?" she asked.

jasper exhaled a small laugh. "no. no. it's common sense. look, we're guests here, not prisoners. what would you do with a guest who kept calling you a liar and generally acted like an ungrateful ass? right now, biggest threat to us is both of you."

arabella sat herself up. "i just want to find bellamy, octavia, raven and finn. i don't like it here, this place isn't my home."

"they're dead, arabella." jasper almost yelled, making people look at them.

arabella stared at jasper, an unreadable look on her face. she stood up and left the room, clarke close behind her.
