✶ ꒰ ⋆✴︎˚｡⋆ ⋮ 𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲 ⨾ han hyeonu is truly a social enigma. it's difficult to decipher which of his traits are genuine, and which aspects of his personality have been fabricated to satisfy the needs of those around him. however, there is absolutely one thing you can trust when it comes to him; that blunt and assertive charm of his. hyeonu's approach to life has always been very direct and straightforward, never beating around the bush or dancing around uncomfortable conversations that need to be had. it's a pivotal factor that can make or break people's perception of him, often making it hard for hyeonu to connect with others. in the face of adversity, he isn't one to back down so easily; in fact, he embraces the challenge. the bigger the hurdle the better, in his opinion. but you mustn't mistaken his unwavering resilience for plain cockiness - a lot of people fail to remember just how much he has sacrificed to ensure his position in this industry, and it has not been a smooth sailing journey. when you've trained for as long as he has, you come to learn that passion is not enough to achieve your dreams. you need to have drive, you need to be determined - you need to be perfect, so that the world cannot find a single fault within your being. perhaps that's why he puts a great deal of pressure on himself to succeed. it may not seem like it, given his outward nonchalance and unfazed demeanour, but hyeonu is just as insecure as the next person - he takes others' thoughts of him to heart, and feels guilty whenever he can't deliver on the expectations he has placed on himself. sometimes he wishes that he wasn't wired this way, and instead still that happy-go-lucky boy he was many years ago. and there are moments where he is, especially at times of great happiness or with those he's close to, but the past is the past. maybe one day in the future, after he's made it, hyeonu will learn to tear down these isolating walls he's built around himself and let the world in. until then, we'll wait.

✶ ꒰ ⋆✴︎˚｡⋆ ⋮ 𝐛𝐚𝐜𝐤𝐠𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐝 ⨾ a happy family of three residing in the outskirts of iksan were graced by the birth of a beautiful baby boy in october of 2000, who they'd soon realise was the missing piece of their puzzle. the couple hadn't expected to have anymore children following their first, however they welcomed the idea with open arms, and discovered that he may very well have been the best thing to have happened to their family. from the second he was born, it was as if a rush of light had entered their lives, brightening everything in its wake. and they began to have high hopes for his future. the child would grow to become someone extraordinary; or in any case, hyeonu would always be the most dazzling thing in his family's eyes. no matter what.

life in the han household was incredibly hectic since day 1. hurrying to meetings, hurtling through school runs, shuttling to extra curriculars - it was a sort of a controlled, yet chaotic environment that left everybody feeling tired by the time the sun had set. however, even with the disarray and confusion, they made time for each other and spent whatever free moment they had to bond, because that was mainly how this family operated ( except hyeonu's mother, who usually wasted away at her desk until ungodly hours of the night ). they thrived off the love they shared amongst one another, the driving force that energized the family and gave them the strength to keep going. you could say these early of his life were largely positive and filled to the brim with the type of affection that any child hyeonu's age would crave from their loved ones.

school was hardly a breeze, however his parents' made sure that he kept on top of his workload so that he didn't fall behind on his classes. much like his father, hyeonu was drawn to the subject of maths and it was the only course he really excelled in, achieving full marks in every test or exam set for him. unfortunately, nobody could say the same about the results he yielded when it came to the likes of science or english. he did what he could to the best of his capabilities, and that was enough for his parents; they weren't fixated on the grades he was getting, but rather his happiness and wellbeing. not everyone is going to be talented at everything, and it was during his middle school years that they realised hyeonu's aptitude for performing - a gift he shared with his older brother.

after enrolling him into both dance and vocal lessons, it was like something big had clicked. hyeonu had finally found his footing, and had something he was deeply passionate about pursuing. sure, having a job in the entertainment industry wasn't the most secure, but if that's what he wanted, then who were his parents to stop him? they did whatever they could to support him, albeit not much given that it was an area out of their expertise. going through the audition process was a tense time for all involved, the sinking pit of sadness in his stomach only growing with each rejection. the lack of success hadn't deterred him in the slightest - as a matter of fact, it motivated him to try harder and moulded him into a more determined person. eventually, a lesser known company located in seoul accepted hyeonu as one of their trainees, and thus the beginnings of his dream were in sight.

training was far tougher than what he'd imagined it to be. well, he knew it would be strenuous; but not to this extent. it didn't help that everyone around him seemed to know exactly what they were doing too, always miles ahead of him in some way, shape or form. the imposter syndrome he felt was very real those first couple of months, hyeonu continually questioning whether or not he was capable of actually going through with this career. the things keeping him grounded were his family and friends, who would send him a flurry of messages every day wishing him luck with his busy schedule and reminding hyeonu to keep his head up even when things aren't going as planned. someday, he'll return their kindness and prove his talents to the world onstage - he just hopes he won't have to wait much longer.

✶ ꒰ ⋆✴︎˚｡⋆ ⋮ 𝐯𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐨𝐟 𝐯𝐞𝐧𝐨𝐦 ⨾ where seven mis-matched trainees are clumped together after winning an intense survival show, in hopes that they are the next best idol group of this generation. joining 'the phantom trials' was honestly a last resort for hyeonu, convinced that if he couldn't debut after this, then it's possible he never would. initially, his company had sat him down to discuss potential career changes if his current skillset didn't improve. there were suggestions thrown about for him to maybe go into acting instead, however these conversations halted instantly when news of this survival show broke. without hesitation, his company signed him up to be a participant - making clear that this was his final chance to prove his abilities, otherwise they would be letting him go. with this ultimatum in mind, he worked himself to the bone to earn his place in the industry and much to everyone's surprise - and i mean everyone, including his family, friends and company - he somehow managed to achieve first place by the end of 'the phantom trials', cementing his position in the group.

busy by trade, but distant by choice. minsu was a woman who's life revolved around her work, and everything else was secondary. it's not as if she was particularly high on the corporate ladder, yet those countless hours spent crunching numbers or meeting deadlines for a company that couldn't care less about her meant missing out on several milestones within her children's' lives. connecting with them started to feel like an option, rather than a necessity. she really tried her level best to be what her family needed, and there are still moments even now where minsu is totally overwhelmed with the difficult task of motherhood. although they remain not the closest, she has managed to establish a relationship with her sons, and hopes that her presence in their lives now will be able to reverse - or at least forgive - those many years they endured without having a second parent around.

a man with a heart so full, that all he can do is give. ever since he got married, jinyoung had been picturing the day he'd become a father - it was his lifelong dream to have children, a family to call his own. when his precious jihoon and dearest hyeonu both came into the world, to say those days were the happiest of his life would be the understatement of the century. because of his affinity towards parenthood, he didn't mind that he was the main carer of his two boys; in fact, he wouldn't have had it any other way. it gave him the opportunities to truly become close with his sons, showering them with constant love and care as they grew up to be remarkable individuals. perhaps a small part of him wished that his wife was around more when their kids were younger, however he appreciated the effort she is putting in now. as they say, better late than never.

the childhood musical prodigy who bit more off than he could chew. being poked and prodded at like he was some sort of museum exhibit during his lessons were experiences that jihoon had become accustomed to, learning to put on a marvellous show for those who wished to hear him play. yet the pressure to perform was incessant, drowning him under a sea of piano recitals and showcases that never seemed to stop. the pile of awards crowding his room wasn't enough, as the world yearned for more; original compositions, jihoon being placed in charge of entire orchestras etc. all at the ripe age of 18. these expectations ...... he couldn't meet them. and by this point, he was exhausted. so when his teachers kept pushing, he broke; not quite the same ever since. after all, a bird can only soar so close to the sun before its wings begin to burn. fame always has a price, and for jihoon, the cost was his sanity.

most people don't expect trio friend groups to survive, assuming that two will always end up being closer to one another whilst leaving the third out. however, it appears that kitae, junseo and hyeonu have beaten these odds and are still going strong today - minus the fact that two of them are currently dating each other. regardless, kitae remains a contant in hyeonu's fast paced world, and it is something that he is forever thankful for. there are several moments throughout his life where if it hadn't been for kitae's presence, then things might've panned out very differently. they try to hang out as often as they can, but hyeonu's busy career can prevent him from doing so. alternatively, the pair facetime every week to catch up in order to keep up to date with each other's personal lives.

if happiness and love could be personified, the outcome would be lee jaehwan. ever since they were kids, jaehwan would follow hyeonu around like a lost puppy waiting to be given some attention, even though he was only at their house to spend time with junseo. it was an adorable habit of his which he kept through to adulthood, continuing to be hyeonu's shadow whenever he visited. having watched him grow up, hyeonu sees jaehwan as his own younger brother, always doing what he can to take care of him and making sure that he is treated with the utmost love - there's a special place in his heart reserved for the boy. when jaehwan learned of hyeonu's feelings towards his brother, he was nothing but supportive and encouraging of the relationship, genuinely happy that hyeonu could finally be a part of his family.

what do you do when your drunk older brother brings home a random girl from the club? you befriend her, of course! although their first meeting was unconventional, with jihoon completely blacked out on the couch in their living room, a beautiful friendship blossomed between hyeonu and yeona once they became aware of each other's existence. sharing a lot of the same interests helped solidify their bond, and sometimes the people around them got the impression that yeona was dating him, not his brother. even after her amicable break up with jihoon, the two remained very close and hyeonu considers her one of the few people in the world that he can fully trust. whenever he is in need of advice or support, she is the person he chooses to turn to, and vice versa.

imagine spending a month learning how to sing justin bieber's 'boyfriend' in english in attempts to impress the japanese exchange student in your class, only to be publicly rejected by her during homeroom. an incredibly mortifying experience, to say the least. however, a couple days after the humiliating gesture, naomi agreed to date him on the premise that he never brings up justin bieber in any of their conversations ever again, later revealing that she despised his music, and told him that if he ever mentioned to anyone that they were dating she would break up with him immediately. their short lived romance lasted merely three months, since naomi had to return to japan at the end of the school year, and surprisingly, the couple promised to stay in touch. from what he knows through social media, she is now married to an italian model and was kindly invited to their wedding in sicily last year, which he sadly had to decline because his company wouldn't let him attend. oh, and she still hates justin's guts.

being head over heels for your best friend is excruciatingly painful - both gyuri and hyeonu can relate. around the time when he was 17, just before auditioning to pursue his dreams of becoming an idol, hyeonu began to discover that we wasn't only interested in woman. the many years of closeness and affection for his friend junseo had developed into something more, something that he was too afraid to admit. and he was scared that junseo would catch on too. so instead, he confided in a mutual friend of theirs who suggested that they 'fake date' in order to avoid arousing suspicion from their friend. little did hyeonu know, gyuri was hopelessly in love with him and secretly hoping that this 'agreement' of theirs would change his mind. when he found out about her feelings, hyeonu instantly stopped the 'fake dating' between them and sincerely apologised for not being able to reciprocate those feelings towards her. obviously heartbroken by these turn of events, gyuri never spoke to him after that and the two haven't seen each other since.

can you even technically consider a one night stand to be your ex? the only recollection hyeonu has of that night with him is the utterly embarrassing walk of shame he had to take at 4am back to his company from the seiyon university dorms. a few weeks later, they met by chance again however their relationship remained what it was before. you can only imagine his horror when he learned of jun's real identity following a short visit to daegu to see yeona; he had unknowingly hooked up with his friend's younger brother - twice. it's actually kind of comical how he never made the connection that they were related, but alas, here we are. both were equally as shocked as each other upon this realisation, yet were thankfully able to find the humour in the situation at hand. the two became quite good friends as time progressed, and neither jun nor hyeonu have ever breathed a word of what happened between them to yeona to this day.

they say 'never date the people you work with' and boy, were they right. although the two were still trainees and not debuted yet, it was a terrible idea for hyeonu to ask him out. not only would it have resulted in both of them being kicked out of their company had their relationship been discovered, but also youmin was just not a great partner at all. he developed this sort of superiority complex towards hyeonu, having this idea that because he's his boyfriend he can do whatever he wants without question. quickly realizing that youmin wasn't the person who he thought he was, hyeonu broke things off - but of course, they still had to see one another every day afterwards. undoubtedly, youmin was furious with this decision and decided that if he can't have hyeonu, then he'd at least make his life a living hell. spreading baseless rumours,  cornering him in practice rooms, purposelessly messing up choreographies in order to 'bump' into him; it was annoying to deal with constantly. but the company caught wind of the stunts youmin was pulling, subsequently asking him to leave due to his misbehaviour. guess karma's a bitch.

when i tell you that han hyeonu is whipped for this man, i mean it. he will fold like a damn paper doll if junseo ever asked anything of him. best friends since birth, there was never a day where these two weren't together; staying over at each other's houses, going on holidays, walking to school. everything they did, they did with one another. neither of them thought much of their relationship until they entered their late teens, when certain feelings began to develop. things that were previously platonic started to hold deeper meaning. when hyeonu panicked and went off to date gyuri, junseo was admittedly disappointed - but he knew him better than anybody else. he could read him like an open book, and he knew it would only be a matter of time before hyeonu came running back to him. although it took longer than expected, the couple officially started dating a little over a year ago, and have been going strong ever since. their friendship created a solid foundation for their love to blossom, and sometimes hyeonu wishes that he would've come to his senses sooner. for the sake of his idol image, the company requested that he keeps this relationship of his private and under wraps, perhaps putting forth the idea that junseo could pretend to be his 'best friend' instead - as if he wasn't already. but the internet is smarter than that, and isn't so easily fooled. oh well, some love stories are just too great to be kept hidden.

song writing ⋆ it's quite silly to admit, but hyeonu really likes making up little songs in his spare time - even if they are rubbish. song writing is a skill he is currently trying to hone, because he hopes that he will be able to produce his own music in the future.

collecting vinyls ⋆ he currently has 12 so far in his growing collection. artists that he has bought consist of fleetwood mac, the last dinner party, alec benjamin, charli xcx, chappell roan and oasis. he displays them in the room of his family home, and the main reason he collects is for aesthetic purposes ( he also thinks that it makes him look cool ).

ultimate frisbee ⋆ umm... yeah, so his middle school had a club for ultimate frisbee which he just randomly joined one day. they participated in a competition once, but their tragic loss ended up in the club's disbandment, a mere few weeks after it was created.

playing pokémon ⋆ from the cards to the app on his phone, you could say that hyeonu is a little bit obsessed. his favourite pokémon off all time has to be clefairy - no reason other than it was the only one his mother would remember when he spoke to her about the topic, and that was the first time she showed an interest in the things he liked.

✶ ꒰ ⋆✴︎˚｡⋆ ⋮ 𝐟𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐬 ⨾ heights ⋆ it's less about the actual height itself, and more about the potential fall to the ground. he's never been one to go near ledges of tall buildings or structures, not even to pose for photos. the furthest he'll go to combat this fear is to ride rollercoasters, but even then he remains terrified.

gorillas ⋆ when he was 7, his father took him on a day trip to the zoo with a friend where and a visitor accidentally fell into the enclosure. nothing bad happened, but seeing the sheer size difference between a human and a gorilla was enough to instil terror into hyeonu's mind from that day onwards.

✶ ꒰ ⋆✴︎˚｡⋆ ⋮ 𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐯𝐢𝐚 ⨾ #1. when they were teenagers, junseo and hyeonu bought matching plushies - two dinosaurs, one blue and one red - from this hella sketchy corner shop in their town ( the store was subsequently closed down a few years later for committing tax fraud, as revealed in their local newspaper ). he keeps the stuffed animal, who he has named 'hector', on his bed and finds it impossible to sleep without it by his side.

#2. hyeonu can actually speak 4 languages; he is fluent in korean and chinese, also achieving an intermediate level in both japanese and french. this is all thanks to the diverse range of people he lived with during his years as a trainee. it's not something he likes to brag or show off about, but he sometimes uses his abilities to eavesdrop on other people's conversations. so be aware when talking around him, he may just understand you.

#3. a very long time ago now, hyeonu used to have a real liking for eating cough drops, blackcurrant flavoured ones specifically. and once, he even went through an entire pack in a day, which left him dealing with the worst stomach ache of his life. the doctor said that there was nothing much they could about it except for him to simply tough it out until the pain subsided. for the following three days, all hyeonu could taste in the back of his throat was blackcurrant - and the traumatic experience put him off the flavour forever. he still shudders from time to time whenever someone offers him something purple.

#4. his friends like to clown him about the time when he walked into a glass door at a restaurant whilst on a date. he hadn't had his glasses on him when it happened, so you can understand why he wasn't able to see it there. but apparently he rammed into it so hard that he ended up breaking his nose, obviously cutting the meal short. hyeonu refuses to return back to that restaurant, in fear that the servers who work there will still recognize him from that incident all those years ago.

#5. for the last day of school before halloween, he and his class came up with the idea to dress up as the minions from despicable me, with their teaching agreeing to be gru. the day arrived, and hyeonu was clad head to toe in yellow clothes and blue overalls, however realised that nobody else had done the same. in fact. when he walked into the classroom, he found nobody there. a few moments later, his friends came out of their hiding places and brought out his favourite type of cake - it was all an elaborate prank set up to celebrate his birthday. it's a cherished memory that hyeonu holds dear, and remembers fondly.

also i would like to give a huge big thank you and hug to the lovely feven ( cyanotype ) who helped me with the face claims and names for a few of the characters ^^ xe never disappoints when i recruit xem for help 😄 it was feven who actually gave me the idea for the crossover between jun and hyeonu after suggesting soyeon for one of hyeonu's friends ( she is already the face claim for one of jun's sisters ) so yeah - i was feeling a little crazy so i chucked that in there hehe. anyways, once again feven you are a gem thank you much 🫶
