Underneath it all, we're just savages

Hidden behind shirts, ties and marriages

How could we expect anything at all

We're just animals, still learning how to crawl

---

The feeling you couldn't escape your own mind.

Tormented by the memories of the past, while staring out of a one-sided window, hoping, wishing, that there would be freedom.

(Y/n) felt like she was kept under control with metaphorical chains, which prevented her from breaking free of the hold her sister had on her.

Maybe that was the case.

As she contemplated things a bit, a vivid memory flashed past, though it was like a train going past a train station, with no intention to stop and wait for her to catch it.

It almost felt nostalgic.

Perhaps it was a memory from her recent past, something different than the memories before it that had flashed before her eyes.

(Y/n) reached out to grab it, but it resisted, slippery like a fish, something she couldn't quite grasp.

Trying harder, the results were still the same.

She had to try a different tactic.

(Y/n) closed her eyes and focused, on what she thought the memory would be like. Maybe it was about a dog that she once had, but it ran away.

When she opened her eyes, she was back in the village, before the attack. Two young girls were playing together, one with purple hair and the other with (h/c) hair.

(Y/n) instantly recognised the two as her and Chamille, but what shocked her was that Chamille looked happy.

Giggling as they chased each other, the purple-haired future Master of Form was chasing (Y/n), a blissful grin on her face.

''Can't get me!'' (Y/n) teased, making Chamille smirk.

''We'll see about that!'' Her sister replied, and picked up the pace.

The two chased each other, in between two trees/boulders/houses until suddenly, (Y/n) disappeared into a bush.

Chamille stopped to take a look around, investigating each bush and looking up each tree to find her sister.

(Y/n) suddenly popped out, a foot stuck out, and making the purple-haired girl trip over and fall.

Chamille let out a yelp as she tripped over, putting her hands in front of her face to soften the landing.

There was a grunt as she hit the ground, and all was silent. Then, came the sound of sobbing, attracting unwanted attention.

Terry and Co™ appeared, with his friend Jake in the lead, having heard Chamille.

''Oh look, Grape Juice has spilt, get the mop!'' One of them mocked, making the others laugh.

Chamille looked over at her sister, who was looking far off into the distance, doing nothing to help.

A look of hurt crossed her face, making T and Co laugh more. It seemed like they fed off her sadness, like a shoal of piranhas to a distressed animal.

The purple-haired girl slowly got up, finding the palms of her hands scratched, as well as her knees and elbows.

''Sister, can you help?'' Chamille asked, looking over her sister. (Y/n) looked over at her, scanning the seemingly minor injury from afar.

''It's just a scratch, no biggie.'' (Y/n) reassured her.

''Yeah, it's just a scratch!'' Said another one of T and Co.

Chamille sniffled, tears running down her face. It hurt under the surface, where the sharpest weapon that could pierce was words.

She then turned and ran off, back to home.

(Y/n) watched with a blank expression, seemingly not caring. Behind her, T and Co were still laughing, with one in particular on the ground and looking as if they were being tickled.

''Why's it so funny to you?'' (Y/n) asked, suddenly turning around to face them.

''It's funny because,'' Said one in between laughs.'' she's always been a loser, and when she tries, she looks really dumb.''

(Y/n) gritted her teeth in anger and strode up to them, grabbing the one who spoke by their collar, making the others go silent.

''Don't you dare say that about my sister.'' She growled, and for a moment it looked like she had sharp fangs like a vampire, making the person start to whimper in fear.

''Says the one who deliberately tripped her over in the first place,'' Terry spoke, crossing his arms.

The others began laughing again, this time directed at the girl.

''Maybe next time you should clean up the mess!''

They then left, leaving (Y/n) in silence.

Before (Y/n) could stop and think about she just saw, she was then thrust into another memory.

(Y/n) stood at the door to her sister's bedroom.

''Cami?'' She asked.

''Go away (Y/n).'' Her sister said as she was heard sobbing. ''You wouldn't care.''

''But I do.'' (Y/n) replied.

''You don't. You never did.''

(Y/n) then sighed. ''Cami, please, I know you're in there-''

''Oh no not this again...''

''People have been asking where you've been.''

''Help meeee....''

''They say ''have courage'' and I'm trying to.''

''...''

''I'm right out here for you, just let me in...''

Chamille's sobs became softer, almost silent.

''We only have each other, just you and me, what are we going to do...?''

It became silent.

''Do you want to beat up Terry~?''

''No. Go away.''

(Y/n) sighed, before walking away.

Then, the memories became a flood, images flashing by of Chamille's face slowly becoming devoid of emotion.

This was all her fault, wasn't it?

No. She refused to believe.

Outside the windows of her eyes, Cole held his golden scythe, panting, he seemed to be searching through the depths of (Y/n)'s dark and cold eyes, looking for something.

''Please, I know you're in there, (Y/n), keep fighting!'' Cake Devourer urged, looking desperate and filled with fear.

(Y/n) tried to speak, but it was as if someone had turned on the mute button on a remote, preventing her from making any sound.

She then tried to move, and suddenly it felt there were restraints on her wrists and ankles.

(Y/n) narrowed her eyes, she wasn't going to give up easily. Especially when Cole believed that she was still there.

The girl gritted her teeth as she struggled in her metaphorical bonds, and suddenly it felt like they were becoming loose.

There seemed to be a scream from outside of her mind, seemingly infuriated.

''YOU ARE UNDER MY CONTROL!'' Chamille screamed, pressing a button on the device.

''Cole!'' (Y/n) said, the small pinpricks of light of her eyes suddenly a little big bigger. ''Why do you love me? I'm a monster!''

Chamille began to take control again, a smirk growing on her face as she regained control.

Cole then saw Lloyd behind the purple-haired girl, quietly sneaking up behind the Master of Form.

''Because no matter what form you take, I'll still love you!'' The Master of Earth declared, feeling his heart thump in his chest.

Before the Green Ninja could pounce, (Y/n)'s Oni father appeared out of nowhere and tackled him to the ground.

''Not today, pesky Green Ninja!'' (Y/n)'s Oni Father snarled, and Lloyd held up his sword to defend himself.

The Green Machine went to stab at him, only for the oni to pick him up and swing him into a tree.

There was a thump as Green Bean hit the tree, before sliding down and closing his eyes. Cole then rushed over to him to check if he was okay, giving the Dark Trio a chance to escape.

When Cake Devourer looked behind him, they were gone.

''No...'' He said in horror.

They could have gone in any direction. And with (Y/n) still under their control, it meant it was going to be harder than it was first expected to be.

Cole lowered his head in shame, looking down at Lloyd, silent.

He then noticed light shining on the blond's hair, and he turned and looked up to see a gap in the dark clouds, a ray of light breaking through where there had previously been darkness.

There was still hope.
