Beomgyu's breath was caught in his throat when he heard the CEO's words. The words he said sent a shiver down his spine, and the pain in his chest got even stronger.

"Y-yes Sir?"
Beomgyu asked quietly, looking up at the CEO who was now gazing at him.

He didn't understand why this man, who he'd just met for the first time a few minutes ago, was giving him such intense and strange vibes.

"Forget that."
The younger man dismissed it, and pulled out a paper from his desk.
"This will be your conditions and work schedule. I'm sure you were told on the interview day about how to work for me."

Beomgyu nodded and took the paper from the CEO. He quickly glanced through the contents of the paper, his eyes widening at how much the salary was. He had expected a big salary when he applied for the job but this was beyond what he imagined.

It was a whole another level. He just hoped it wouldn't kill him from over-working.

Beomgyu looked up from the paper and spoke. "Yes, I understand."

"In basic terms, your job is to make my work load easier and manage my schedule."
He answered calmly.
"That's your desk, prepare yourself. I expect perfect work, and I hate late-comers." He added further.

"Understood."
Beomgyu nodded and went over to the desk and sat down at the chair, arranging the stationery neatly on the desk.

The desk was large and organized, similar to the CEO. Beomgyu couldn't help but glance over in his direction, the man's aura was captivating and intimidating at the same time.

He wondered why he felt such strange emotions whenever he looked at the younger man, the passing out earlier still a mystery to him. He wanted answers, but he found none, all he could do now, was hope. Hope that this new job goes smooth for him.

It had been a couple hours since Beomgyu started his job with the CEO and so far, things had been going smoothly.

Beomgyu's mind was working overtime to memorize Kai's schedule and preferences, and he diligently completed each task given to him as best he could.

His eyes flicked to the clock and his stomach gave a growl. It was almost lunchtime.

Beomgyu looked over at the CEO, who was still working diligently at his computer.

He cleared his throat before speaking. "Uh, Mr. Huening?"

"Yes Secretary Choi?"
The younger answered back, without looking away from the screen.

"It's lunchtime..." he replied, hesitating. Was the CEO someone who brought lunch to have in the office, or did he dine in a restaurant? Beomgyu had no idea and he didn't want to come off as rude by asking.

"Yes I'm aware." He replied non-chalantly.
"Don't worry about me."

Beomgyu wasn't fully reassured by the CEO's nonchalant reply. He had a feeling the man would skip lunch just to work and that worried him. He didn't know why he was so worried about this man, but he couldn't help but feel uneasy at the thought of him skipping his lunch.

"Sir," he started, "you should take a break and eat something."

"You're a worrywart aren't you?" Kai teased, trying to appear nonchalant with a small chuckle.

Beomgyu couldn't help but frown at the CEO's remark. It wasn't his fault he was worried about the workaholic in front of him - who seemed to have no care for his own health.

"I prefer the word concerned." He replied, crossing his arms over his chest.

"Concerned? More like nosy to me." The younger replied, his voice still as calm and stoic as ever, irking Beomgyu.
How dare he call him nosy? He was being perfectly reasonable in his care.

"Nosy? I beg your pardon, Mr. Huening," Beomgyu replied, his voice a little sharper than before. "I'm just doing my job, making sure you don't work yourself to death."

"Work myself to death? I'm young and healthy, thank you very much." He retorted, and Beomgyu noticed a hint smirk playing on his lips. Is this why the others warned him before? Because this man was an annoying piece of work?

Beomgyu wanted to roll his eyes at that. Just because he was young and healthy didn't mean he was invincible.

"Being young and healthy doesn't mean you're immune to exhaustion and burnout," he said, annoyance clear in his voice. "You're clearly overworking yourself and if you keep going like this, you're going to collapse one day."

Kai leaned back in his chair, intrigued by the secretary's feisty, yet still respectful, response. The man had guts, not many people would dare speak to him like this.

Kai folded his arms across his chest, his eyes never leaving the secretarry's face. "Oh? And you're going to stop me, are you? How do you plan to do that?"

Beomgyu knew he stepped into dangerous territory by talking back to the CEO like this, but he couldn't help himself. The man was too stubborn and needed to be told off. He wanted to prove his point, and Beomgyu never backs off, always having the last word, hence how he ended up here, in this office as his secretary afterall. His stubborn nature would be his doom someday.

With a determined look on his face, he answered, "I'll do whatever it takes to stop you from overworking yourself. If it comes down to it, I'll even physically drag you out of this office."

Kai chuckled at the secretary's determination, it was almost endearing to see him being defiant like this.

He raised an eyebrow, smirk playing on his lips. "Physically drag me out, you say? I'd like to see you try."

He took up a challenge on the very first day of work. Invitation to doom indeed.
