5am

Leigheanna finds herself unable to sleep properly as she's still excited about possibly meeting Rowan in person. She'd like to know more in detail about him, starting from his age, his family life, and possibly his occupation. However, she must maintain a good level of composure, refraining from squealing like a baby.

Suddenly, she hears her phone ringing loudly, which can make her father suspicious. This is why she picks it up in a huff and rushes out of her room, just putting her shoes on and without even bothering changing.

Phone call between Leigheanna and Rowan

Leigheanna: Hey! I was just about to wake up!

Rowan: I'm near the gas station.

Leigheanna: How did you find me?

Rowan: I don't know. Let's say I may have tracked you somehow...

Leigheanna: You creep!

Rowan: Come on, you can get out.

Leigheanna: I'm coming. See you.

Rowan: See you.

As the conversation ends, Leigheanna leaves the motel without turning her back, with just a backpack and a bag with all the necessary stuff. The rest of her baggage is still in the room where her father is sleeping. The girl is longing for a sense of freedom she hasn't felt since being forced to go to Kaitlin's place.

Leigheanna: Hopefully he won't catch me so soon. If he did, I'd be screwed.

Suddenly, she hears the noise of a car stopping. As she can see it, she approaches it. It's an old and quite beaten-up black Jeep. It looks like one of the windows was not repaired by a pro, as she can see a large crack on it. She wants to find out who's there in the driver's seat; however, she's preceded by someone pulling the window down. A young man, presumably in his early twenties, with a round face, bulky arms and shoulder-length brown hair looking like it's been attacked by a cat, shows up.

He grins at Leigheanna, leaving her confused as she doesn't know who the guy is, but then he starts chuckling.

???: So, lady, I guess you must be Leigheanna.

Leigheanna: Excuse me, who are you?

???: Someone told me that she's a feisty young lady with blue hair.

Leigheanna: Yeah, it's me.

???: So, this person was right. Your voice is even sweeter than on the phone.

Leigheanna: Who the hell are you?

???: Oh, sorry, how rude of mine! I forgot to introduce myself. My name is Rowan. Rowan Killip.

Silence falls as both stare awkwardly at each other, to the point that Leigheanna is left open-mouthed. She can't believe she's just met the guy she's talked to on the phone multiple times this summer.

Leigheanna: How could you... I mean...

Rowan: I told you. I have my sources.

Leigheanna: You... you have to tell me exactly how you found me!

Rowan: I'll tell you on the way far from here. The further, the better. I don't want anyone to be suspicious at you.

Leigheanna: That's really nice of yours. I mean, you really caught me off guard, but I think I can forgive you.

Rowan: Haha. Thanks. But, now, get in the car.

Leigheanna: Okay.

As Leigheanna jumps on Rowan's Jeep and fastens her belt, she can find herself shivering and giggling out of enthusiasm. If the trip actually goes well, this meeting with the guy she met over the phone will be the event that could change her summer for the better and, why not, even her life.

By the time the two guys have left the dreary gas station, back in Kaitlin's hometown, things are not looking so well for Alaria. She's still shaken by the grueling discovery that Kaitlin, other than being an evil woman, is also a master liar and an abuser; this is why she can't take it anymore and wants to leave that horror house.

She knocks gently at Lindsay and Elyce's door, growing irritated as she doesn't get an immediate answer, which forces her to enter the room straight away. She closes the door behind her, paying attention not to wake Kaitlin, who, in the mean time, has fallen asleep. She slowly reaches Lindsay's bed, but, as she taps her neck, she finds it, as well as her blankets, covered with blood, much to her horror.

Trying hard to retain her tears, Alaria grits her teeth and keeps tapping on Lindsay's forehead, fearing that her sister was beaten up by Kaitlin and possibly even killed. To Alaria's shock, Lindsay slowly opens one eye, then the other one, baffled as to why her sister is crying.

Alaria: What happened?

Lindsay: Kait and I had a fight, and she beat me up because I told her she had gone nuts.

Alaria: What?

Lindsay: She must've been drunk, but I don't know, honestly. What I know, however, is that she hit me with an old broom stick.

Alaria: I guess she retrieved it from the attic. Anyway, Lindsay, you're bleeding. Let's call 911-

Lindsay: No! Please don't! If Kaitlin catches you, you'll die!

Alaria: I won't let you die that way. Don't be silly! I'm gonna call them, no matter if she's going to kill me afterwards.

Calling 911

???: 911, what can I do for you?

Alaria: My name is Alaria Travers, and I'm calling you from Arlington, Virginia. 19 Millet Drive. My sister's been hit on her face with a pan and is bleeding. At the moment, she's in bed, so she must've been hit while she was about to sleep.

???: Did you do anything to try stopping the bleeding?

Alaria: I've just arrived to her room. I found a small cloth, but I don't think that's enough.

???: Who hit your sister?

Alaria: I guess it was my mother. Better say, putative mother. She's been lying to us for years. I was calling my other sister before I learnt this happened, too. That woman hit her, too, but I don't know if she was injured.

???: Okay, thank you for the information. We're sending an ambulance right now. Wait there.

Alaria: Thank you.

As the conversation with 911 ends, Alaria turns back to Lindsay, who has since fallen asleep again.

Alaria: Wake up. 911 are coming.

Lindsay: Oh, really?

Alaria: Don't worry, I swear I'll take the others out of here, too.

Lindsay: Thank you for always being here for us, even though we weren't grateful enough to you.

Alaria: You don't need to worry. I'm gonna check on Elyce, okay?

Alaria then turns from Lindsay's bed to Elyce's. As she taps it to find whether her sister is still sleeping and pulls an angle of her blanket, she's horrified to find out that she's not there and instead there are pillows underneath the blanket.

Alaria: Oh no! Where is Elyce? She must've left the house before Kaitlin beat Lindsay and Meara! I must do something!
