8. Enter Contests!

Contest are a great way to get your work out there!

There are plenty hosted on the different Wattpad profiles (check out my 'contests' reading list with some of the available contests on my profile (LEPalphreyman). 

If you win a contest, you usually get put in a reading list on one of these popular profiles, a shout out, or something similar. 

There are also the annual Watty Awards!! To enter all you have to do is tag your story with #Wattys[year of contest]. Winning one of these gives you lots of recognition, and usually shout outs from the Wattpad social media accounts which bring in more reads.

In addition to these -  Wattpad quite often host contests with their brand partners (you can find these on the web version of Wattpad under 'Community > Writing Contests'. And these can lead to some very cool prizes and opportunities! 

This traditionally published short story anthology started as a Wattpad contest over at the target profile!

But -even if you don't win one of these contests – the big advantage to getting involved is that entrants tend to check out each other's stories! It's a great way to meet and feedback to each other, and potentially pick up new friends, and fans, along the way.
