Aye watan aye watan hamko teri qasam
Teri raahon mein jaan tak loota jaayenge
Phool kyaa cheez hai tere qadmon pe ham
Bhent apne saron ki chadhaa jaayenge
Aye watan aye watan hamko teri qasam
Teri raahon mein jaan tak lutaa jaayenge.

(Oh my country, we swear to you,
We will lay down our lives happily for you
What are offerings of flowers?
We're ready to lay down our heads at yiir altar
Oh my country, we swear to you,
We will lay down our lives happily for you)

HAPPY INDEPENDENCE DAY 🇮🇳

Day 13 and the last day of my imprisonment in Azkaban also is coincidentally the day our country got free after a long long war of Independence in the year 1947. So many lives sacrificed, so many imprisonments, fights, movements acts and later the war for independence and we won. India has been free since then. The influence though is glaring in some areas, still India is prospering in its own way.

The day was gloomy and the rains peltered throughout the day. The morning coffee till lunch, wet evenings and soothing breeze after dinner. I felt so lazy that half of my day was spent in bed, reading psychiatry (trying to) with a pillow wedged under my chest.

And also today brought in a very important realisation. Being so close to the freedom, counting the hours to just get out of this gilded cage, I realised a few things...

jinnis sent a beautiful fairy to look after me. Which unfortunately is as lazy as me so it's sleeping cosily still 😉. Talking with Jinn however, one thing was clear.

We took our freedom for granted... The freedom to do little things like meeting friends, going out, just grabbing a snack or going to the library to study, hugging friends etc. The lockdown taught us never to take those freedoms lightly again. People are apt to compare it with wars. That's the thing about wars. Wars don't mean weapons and bloodshed... Wars bring in death, stagnation, fallen economy... And restricted freedom... So yes we are going through a war

So today morning after a long time, inspired by Mr Wizard's comment yesterday, I sung 'Ae mere Watan Ke logon' by Lata Mangeshkar. It took 2 attempts but I surprised myself with how good it sounded.

The rest of the day was just random chitchat and obviously I made a meme for tomorrow 😉

So that's the end of today's diary, short yep... But I can't wait for tomorrow to rip apart that piece of mere paper outside my door that keep me barred. Finally freedom, a freedom with a mask amd restrictions... But freedom still...

The song for today is

Ae watan ae watan Humko Teri Kasam
By Mohammad Rafi

Teri dharti pe hai jo qadam ghair ka
Us qadam ka nishaan tak mitaa denge ham
Jo bhi deewaar ab aayegi saamne
Thhokaron se usse ham giraa jaayenge
Aye watan aye watan hamko teri qasam
Teri raahon mein jaan tak lutaa jaayenge

(If there's even a unwanted footstep on your earth,
We'll make sure to eliminate every single scar
Any wall that comes will be demolished in our path.
Oh my country, we swear to you,
We will lay down our lives happily for you)

HAPPY END OF QUARANTINE TO ME. STILL COUNTING HOURS TO FREEDOM! AND I DID IT!
