A thousand years ago......

"Blaine! Hurry!!! We have to get the watch to the circle!" A guy with dark brown hair and sparkling grey eyes cried.

His hair was twisting and twirling it in the wind. His eyes were squinted, as another gust of wind roared through the desert. He shielded his eyes with worn hands, and you could see cracks in the skin, ruby red blood in the crevices. He fought past the coarse sand flying through the air and trudged through the deep desert.

"This sand feels like bullets," He grumbled to himself.

Another boy came into view, his hand clasped with a girl. They both had identical dirt streaked, ash blonde hair and matching light green eyes. They also were covering their delicate eyes with their arms.

"It's impossible! We can't get through this sand!" The girl cried, her arm muffling her voice, rough from lack of water.

"Shadow, we have to get there fast! We only have a few hours left. We need to get into the pyramid!" The brown-haired boy yelled, looking down at his arm briefly.

2 Hours 11 Minutes

"James! We're going to die if we go on any further!" Blaine yelled over the roaring wind.

"We can't stop, we have to try," James yelled back, his straight white teeth gritted with pain.

Every grain of sand wore their skin and cut into their flesh. You could see blood seeping out of the tiny cuts; the scarlet liquid staining their tanned and sunburnt skin.

1 Hour 27 Minutes

They were all trudging through the sand together. No one left behind. A huge pyramid was on the horizon and the sun was starting to fall.

"We're almost there!" Shadow sighed in relief.

The elements had taken a toll on them, as all of them wanted to collapse. Their brows were lined with sweat, proof of the long journey they went through.

"How much time?" Blaine asked wearily as they all paused for a break, all of them immediately slumping to the ground.

"About One Hour," James said tiredly, as they all took a sip of water from their canteens.

"I can't believe it's almost been 153 days. 153 days away from home, and 153 Days traveling the world looking for a pocket watch," Shadow sighed.

"Yeah, I bet our families are worried about us," Blaine said, his eyes adopting a far away look, thoughts of his family dancing in his head.

"Come on Shadow! A little more to go!" Blaine encouraged his twin sister as they continued to scale up a cliff.

There were worn places in the rock where generations before have climbed. However the rocks were old and dry, as a piece of the rock Shadow was standing on began to crumble.

She shrieked and heaved herself up, you could see her muscles straining and her hands frantically trying to find their way into a hole. The boys watched anxiously, praying to anyone who would listen, hoping that the blonde-haired girl would be alright. And their prayers were answered as the girl got to the top, sweat glistening on her forehead, and the familiar scarlet liquid covering her hands.

The three went through more challenges and all of them were conquered. The trio was unstoppable.

James's arm began to pulse, and he looked down to see a frightening number.

He exchanged glances with the twins and they all broke off into a run. The room began to rumble, the floor jostling under their feet. But they make it onto the circular platform, a pedestal in the middle. The platform was ancient, make out of stone with worn down carvings. Small flecks of paint were barely visible on the platform and you could tell that the carvings had been very intricate and painted with vibrant colors. The pedestal was made of white marble, and had an ancient greek style to it. The only strange thing about it was the indent in the middle of it, a circular indent, the size of the pocket watch in James's pocket.

The entire room had an ancient feel to it, and magic was crinkling in the air.

The floor started to shake even more, the delicate ceiling started to crumble and bits of rock and dust started to fall. A rock skimmed Blaine's forehead, creating a gash that pooled with blood. The boy stumbled, some of his ruby red blood spilling into his eyes.

"Blaine! Are you okay?" Shadow asked worriedly, her forehead creased the lines prominent. Her light green eyes shone in the dim light, worry eminent in them.

"Yeah," The taller boy gasped his hand flying to where the rock had struck him.

James fumbled with the pocket watch and started to try to fit it in the indent.

"It's not fitting," James exclaimed, panic starting to fill him.

Debris started to fall from the ceiling and a roar filled the chamber. Dark clouds started to fill the chamber, and an evil cackle rang through the noise. A piercing scream pierced through the air and the aura of darkness started to overpower the ancient atmosphere. There was still that strong feeling of magic, but it felt heavier, it felt darker. It crawled up their skin and stuck like cobwebs. The darkness seeping into their minds and skin.

"HURRY!" Shadow yelled.

"I'm trying!" James yelled back.

And then everything stopped.

The rumbling halted, the dark clouds receded and the mystical atmosphere gently entered again. It felt like a lullaby, like a dream. The designs on the pocket watch glowed with a bright blue light and started to spread down the pedestal and onto the platform. The crevices light up, and portals appeared all around them. The light traveled up through the cracks in the rock and when the light met at the top, a blinding flash entered the trios' vision. When their eyes adjusted, the cavern was filled with glowing crystals and all their wounds were healed. But when James looked at where he last put the Pocket Watch, but it was gone. The trio started to head out of the cave, not noticing a little tentacle of darkness winding its way around the pedestal. It burst into little purple and black dots and escaped spreading its way through the earth, gathering into a vessel. And prompting some of the most evil events in history.
