We went to see a movie yesterday at a casino and afterwards just for fun decided to put $5 into a machine.  I almost never gamble because I'm way too frugal and I hate the idea of basically throwing away money on nothing.  But spending $5 just to have a little fun doesn't seem too horrible.

So I sat down at some sort of video slot machine.  I have to admit I didn't understand the game I was playing at all, but the very first time I pushed the button I won a little bit and went up to like $6, so I decided to keep going.  For some reason you had to place your bets in 60 cent increments.  I played for a little while and went a tiny bit up, but mostly down.  Eventually I got down to just 40 cents left, which wasn't enough to make a bet.  I didn't want to cash out just 40 cents, so I decided to put in another dollar and see if I could just eventually zero out.  And then somehow I hit a winner.  

I still don't understand the game I was playing so I don't really know how or why I won, but the money amount kept going up and up.  I didn't know how high it was going to go.  I was hoping that I somehow hit some mega-jackpot or something.  It ended up stopping at $50.60, which I was more than happy to have won.  That's a new record for me as far as winning something in a casino.  I think my previous biggest win was $13 on a nickel slot.  Like I said, I hardly ever gamble.  I wasn't about to press my luck so I cashed out right then and there.  Getting back $50 for putting in $6 is a nice day's work as far as I'm concerned.  I'm just glad I ended up putting in that extra dollar.
