Creepy 3am

The light had faded completely, night replaced the twilight.
I woke up and a cool shudder trickled down my spine.

Then, glanced around apprehensively.
A somber portrait stared at me.

I'm not usually bright-eyed, and bushy tailed at night.
Today was an exception, and a blissful ignorance.

So I fumbled for a light switch in panic.
But we were on a recess from NEPA.

Disappointed, but I wasn't surprised.
The room remained in immersed darkness.

Shadows swirled around my head.
Cold, hesitant light streamed in through the dark window.

My chest grew tight which became hard to breathe.
Knees trembled and quaked, threatened to give out.

Outside, i heard the autumn wind howled.
But, the flickered light dismissed this emotional nonsense.
