Daisy tilted her head a little as her fingers fidgeted on the thin, long silver stick on her desk. Gazing at her wand, she lost herself in her thoughts.

She didn't know what to do. Two weeks had passed since she set foot in this country, and she hadn't used her magic. Not that it mattered since what was important was to use magic to help her assigned family and not for her benefit. Still, she felt weird for not having performed any spells yet.

She wondered what the council thought of her every time they summoned her wand. Were they laughing at her since she hadn't used her magic yet or were they celebrating their victory since at this point, there was no way she would pass?

She released a deep breath as she relaxed her back on the chair. What could she do to help these people? From what she had learned so far, some of them had relationship problems. But how could she solve such a problem? She was no family therapist herself and was still an inexperienced teenager when the topic was love life.

"What can I do?" she complained. "What can I do?"

"Hey, Daisy," said a familiar voice, opening the door. "Have you seen Martina?"

Daisy jumped a little upon hearing that voice.

"Hi-hide," she said quickly. "Hide."

As the wand brightened with a dim light after a few gestures, it shrunk in size and returned to its hidden form.

"Hey," said Manuele, reaching her.

"Yes?" Daisy placed the necklace around her neck.

Manuele raised a brow.

"Why do you look as if I caught you doing something naughty?" he asked.

"Because you got in so suddenly, you scared me," she said, tilting her head. "At least knock the door before you invade my room. What if I was dressing up and you caught me naked?"

Manuele smiled as if he liked that idea.

"Sorry," he said. "I forgot that you're a girl. You see, I'm used to living with my brothers and it seems my habit of getting in their room randomly still persists."

Daisy narrowed her eyes upon hearing that, wondering if he was telling her the truth or just messing with her. She still thought that it would still be bad manners if he entered her room even if she was the opposite gender.

"What do you want?" she asked, focusing her gaze on the mirror in front of her desk.

"Have you seen Martina?" he asked.

Daisy shook her head as she examined her face in the mirror. It wouldn't have been a conversation with Manuele without him asking where Martina was. His obsession with Martina made her understand why she always disappeared when he was around. It must have been tough to run away from him every day.

"So?" Manuele's fingers tapped on her desk. "Have you seen her?"

Daisy shifted her gaze to him. She remembered that one of Martina's precious favors was to always come up with a negative answer whenever her master asked about her whereabouts. Daisy shook her head.

"No one ever sees her," he said to himself. "That girl sure likes to avoid me."

"You're always looking for her," said Daisy with interest. "Do you like her?"

Manuele's fingers massaged his jaw as he looked thoughtful. Daisy knew that he was a playboy, but that didn't mean that his heart was untamable.

"Hm," he said thoughtfully. "You think so?"

"I don't know." Daisy shrugged. "I'm not you."

She wondered if he was trying to avoid her question by asking her that.

"I just like messing with her," he said. "Nothing more."

He didn't look directly at Daisy when he said those words.

"Besides," he continued, "I wanted to invite her to tonight's party."

Daisy raised a brow, guessing that Martina would be today's special girl. No wonder she had been hiding from him. Being Manuele's girl for a day didn't seem pleasing, even though he was able to find one every day. She wondered if those girls were doing that for clout.

"Then that leaves just one person," he said clapping his hands once.

Daisy gazed at him wondering who the unlucky person would be to join him tonight.

"Welcome," greeted a woman with a bright smile.

"Thank you." Manuele nodded as they entered the store.

Daisy's eyes widened at everything she saw. Although the store itself wasn't very big, her chin wouldn't stop dropping at the sight of glamorous clothes and items exhibited by the mannequins. Judging by the suave atmosphere of the area, she guessed that they were in one expensive place.

"How can I help you?" asked the woman.

Looking at her, Daisy saw that the woman had tied her red hair into a perfect bun.

"I want you to turn this," said Manuele, pushing Daisy to the front, "into a queen."

Daisy glared at him. "What?"

"Don't worry, you're already a princess," he teased. "But I don't want to take a princess to the party; I want a queen."

Daisy frowned, wondering if every girl he invited went through this. If they did, she thought that they must have been desperate to still go out with him after what he said.

"Then look for that queen, elsewhere," she said, walking away.

Before she could take her second step, warm fingers curled around her arm.

"Come on, Daisy," he said. "You already accepted my invitation; you don't want me to show up myself alone do you?"

Daisy gazed at his hand and then at his face. The arrogant and overconfident face was substituted with an innocent one, his brown eyes brightening. Daisy blinked, not believing that he could show such an expression.

"Why did I put myself into this?" she asked herself, giving up her leave.

"I want you to find the best dress this store has," he said to the woman, "and please do something to improve her makeup and hair."

Daisy glared at him, and he chuckled. The woman told him to wait in one of the store's available seats and told Daisy to follow her.

As she tested the many clothes the store had, Daisy wondered what was wrong with her dress.

When she showed up with a yellow dress, many hours later, after Manuele's unexpected invitation, he smiled and took her to one of the many shopping malls in Rome. For a moment, she thought the party was there. She never knew that he wanted to make a complete makeover of her.

She could understand that the makeup needed improvement since she was bad at applying it. Whenever she went to parties or events she only put on basic makeup.

She also understood why her hair also needed a makeover. The only hairstyle she was able to make herself was a ponytail or a bun. The rest were all mysteries for her. She wished she knew how to braid her hair so that she could style her curls however she wanted.

Now the dress. She didn't understand what was wrong with it for him to find the need to buy a new one. Was it because it wasn't luxurious enough? She searched everywhere on the internet to inspire her.

It pained her because she used her magic to materialize that dress. And now it looked like she wasted her spells for nothing. She wondered what the council would think. Her first-time using magic for a useless thing.

After half an hour passing through the hairdresser and the makeup artist, she went to the dressing room. She carefully put on the chosen dress in order not to mess up her hair and makeup. When she looked back in the mirror, she was stunned by what she saw.

The girl before her had her dark skin substituted by a warm shade around her face. Her hair was tied in a lateral style as if it was braided, her curls looking longer with the extensions cascading on her chest.

The girl in front of her wore a light pink dress that barely touched her knees. On the opposite of her yellow dress, the top part of it had sparkling details.

Daisy touched her face, not recognizing it. "This is me?"
