A group of different beings gathered around the round table in a medium-sized room illuminated by torches attached around the white wall. No artificial light was brighter than the pixie's sphere, which displayed the princess' current progress.

Acacio's eyes widened as he witnessed a young man about to kiss the future queen of his kingdom. It didn't take long for him to realize that the young man was only messing with her.

He exhaled in relief.

"I give her one month," said a firm voice after the pixie concluded its report, "for her to fall for one of those kids just like my dear cousin."

Acacio set his blue eyes on the beautiful lady who sat opposite him. Her dark blue hair was tied into a lateral braid, and her oval-shaped face displayed a kind and innocent being. He didn't know how she could look like the kindest creature in the two worlds, even after having said those words.

"In the former princess' defense," said another member with a feline voice. "She only realized her feelings for that human in her adulthood."

Acacio smiled at Dahlia. Her cat ears moved a little as she dared to debate against Violet.

"She still ended up falling for someone," said Violet. "Which I'm afraid, her daughter will also end up doing."

"That's what you want," said Acacio. "You chose this family on purpose, didn't you?"

Violet smiled at him. She looked so innocent that it made him feel guilty. Sometimes he wondered if she was using magic or if her ability to stun others with her innocence was natural.

"I chose that family because of my dear cousin," she said, her voice calm. "Even though she tried her best to help that man, she still failed to find his happy ending, and I'm sure she's not happy about that situation."

Acacio's brows rose. He wondered when Violet started to care so much about Lily to the point of wanting to finish her failed mission. As the daughter of the brother of the former princess' father, Violet always had the impossible dream of becoming a queen.

When Lily started to develop feelings for that human's friend, Violet was one of the few beings who advised her to follow her heart.

"Besides," she continued, "I want to test her. We don't want another case of the queen who abandoned her kingdom to stay with a human."

Chatter filled the air as some members agreed with her. Other members started whispering in between themselves, saying how wise she was, and that she had the qualities of a leader.

"That would never happen," replied Acacio. "After she's crowned, she won't be allowed to leave this world."

Everyone knew the tale of the queen who abandoned her people. She was the reason a law was set for the members of the royal family to not ever leave this world.

A long time ago, everyone from this world could travel freely to the other world. As ordinary fairies, the queen also had the role of helping people in need in the other world. Everything went smoothly until one queen fell in love with the person she was helping, leaving the kingdom into chaos, since she was the only heir.

"But she might sneak out, just like her mother." Violet interrupted his thoughts.

He remembered when Daisy learned about that law. It was before she accepted to run for the throne and that law was one of the reasons she didn't want to become a queen. She didn't want to abandon the family she grew up with, even if it meant losing her powers.

After witnessing the queen's weak health, a sign of compassion grew in her, and she decided to sacrifice everything only to see her grandmother happy.

"Princess Daisy is different from Princess Lily," he said. "She's serious about becoming the next queen."

"A serious person wouldn't waste her magic, dressing herself up and playing with the target," complained another member.

Acacio glanced at the being who joined forces with Violet. The green-skinned member gazed back at him with seriousness in his yellow eyes.

"It's only been a few weeks," said Dahlia before he could say anything. "She's still studying the family."

"I still think that we're wasting time," said Violet. "We know what her fate will be."

Acacio sighed as he gazed at her.

"You saw what the watcher said," he said. "There are two possible futures, so we don't know what her fate is."

Violet displayed another innocent smile. "You really want this half-breed to be our queen. I wonder why."

"Because I want the queen to take a deserved rest," he said. "Even if Daisy fails, the queen won't leave the throne until she finds the right candidate. So even if your wish comes true, don't expect to win the crown so soon."

Violet looked away as a quiet laugh escaped her lips.

"You're right," she said. "Auntie is so stubborn, can't she see that she's killing herself by insisting on ruling the kingdom"

"She certainly is," agreed Dahlia, "but she's doing this for the sake of the kingdom. She wants to retire knowing that our realm will be in good hands."

More chatter filled the atmosphere as Acacio thought of the queen.

"If she doesn't decide soon," said the green-skinned being, "she might leave us without an heir."

Acacio's heart froze at the mention of the possibility of the queen dying. As a child who lost his parents at an early age, the queen always treated him like a son. Even though he knew that life wasn't forever, it still scared him to know that someday, his motherly figure would leave him.

Another thing that bothered him was of her leaving this world without an heir. What would happen to the kingdom? Would another war to fight for the throne rise?

"She already has an heir," he pointed at the blank sphere which was still glowing. "Let's see how she handles this exam, then we'll see what fate holds for our kingdom."

"I agree with Acacio," said the beast being beside Violet. "It's too early to judge the princess' attitude. Besides, falling in love is part of her test, if I'm not mistaken."

Dahlia nodded.

"Yes, the point of this exam is to test her true feelings," she said. "If she falls in love, will she give up the chance to become a queen and stay with her love or will she put her people in the first place?"

Violet chuckled. "I can't wait to see her choice when that happens. What do you think Acacio?"

Acacio did his best to not glare at her.

"What if she doesn't fall for anyone?" he said with confidence. "Then she won't have to choose."

"I like how you're so optimistic, Acacio," said Violet with another chuckle.

Acacio smiled. "Well, one of us has to be."

Even though he believed that Daisy was strong, a little drop of worry grew in him. Daisy was at a delicate age and for sure she'd end up liking someone during her exam. Although she wanted to help her grandmother with all her strength, he wondered if that time came, would her love for her grandmother be strong enough to defeat her first love?
