I came home from school to find a cat lying on our porch with five little kittens squirming and squealing around it. When I went inside I found out that the cat had given birth on our porch because that was as far as it could walk. I walked back outside to see the cat laying awkwardly to one side. I told my parents and immediately but slowly stood up and walked outside to where the cat lay and touched its chest. I did the same. There was not even a single heartbeat and I knew right away she was dead. It was sad but I was glad I didn't get attached to the mother cat or else it would have been worse. The next day my parents said they were selling the kittens and that I could keep one and only one. I picked a calico one with white paws and chest. I watched as the rest of the kittens leave all the while making sure they would have good homes.
