Hazzard County, Georgia is where the Duke boys live. Beauregard Duke and Lukas Duke live together with their uncle, Jesse Duke, and their cousin, Daisy Duke. Bo and Luke are cousins, always getting into mischief. Since they started running moonshine, they'd been constantly running from the law. Once, they were caught and were sent to jail, but got out on probation. They owed that thanks to their Uncle Jesse, who promised the USA government he wouldn't run any more shine if they let Bo and Luke out. Now, the boys can't leave Hazzard County, unless they have specific permission from their probation officer, who just happened to be Boss Hogg.

Jefferson Davis Hogg was the sneakiest, most low-down hive of scum and villainy in Hazzard. He owned most of the land in the county, and what he didn't own, he was taking mortgage payments on. Now, being an old shine runner himself, he knew how to be sly. He was slipperier than an eel when confronted by the law, and could usually talk his way out of trouble. Of course, that meant law outside of Hazzard.

The law in Hazzard was a bit different. Sheriff Rosco P. Coltrane was Boss Hogg's brother-in-law. He always took part in Boss' schemes in some way, shape, or form. Whether it be keeping the Duke boys in check, protecting Boss, or setting up traps. Rosco was particularly fond of his speed trap on Route 5, where the Dukes drove every day with their car, the General Lee. That's where our story begins.
