WEEK #65

Prompt: "There was no time to waste— the sun would set in ten minutes."

T/W - death, destruction, British spelling and Sarahs

After that the sun would never rise again; flames would rain down. And engulfed in these flames, everyone around me would perish. I wanted to treasure the last ten minutes, admiring the colours of the sunset.

"Are you giving up on the plan already?"

It took all my willpower to not punch Squid in his bulbous eyes.

"Of course not, stupid!"

"There's a limit to my powers," I murmured, looking up at the glowing sun

"But we've been training every day for this," Squid countered.

"Are you an idiot?" I frowned at Squid.

He scratched his head, "I'm just worried, that's all."

"We could try... But I'm really, really, tired from that movie marathon last night!"

"Really?"

"Okay, fine. But don't say I didn't warn you."

"I knew you would come through! What were you thinking?"

Rolling my eyes, I pointed towards the setting sun, "First off, we need to find shelter."

"Can't we just go home?" Squid asked obliviously, as if fire was not about to start raining from the sky.

"You were the one who wanted to do this in the first place!"

"I'm just saying it's not a bad idea. The world is ending after all."

"Oh right, because I obviously keep forgetting that this is the end of the world," I rolled my eyes at Squid's idiocy.. "And here I thought you were the most responsible of the both of us."

"You think too much!"

"No way, you're the one always stealing our braincell."

"Is that really important at this moment? The sun has almost set!"

The sun dipped behind the horizon and the last burning embers of its light disappeared for good. Squid screamed as the horizon burst into dark flames, consuming and destroying everything it touched.

"The plan, we have to do it now!"

"There's no ti—" Squid collapsed in a pile of burning ashes, dark crimson blood mixing with the glowing light of the fire.

"This can't be happening!" I began to frantically scrabble for anything around me that might be useful.

"No! There's still time! There's still time!"

I grabbed the nearest branch and threw it at the nearest flames. It fell to pieces, ashes raining down, turning the landscape grey and snuffing out the fire.

"Well, that worked. Poor Squid..."

Meanwhile, on the other side of the globe;

"Are you even thinking straight?"

"No."

"Of course you aren— Is that Hermione Granger?"

"No."

"Then who is she?"

"Sarah, obviously."

But of course it wasn't really Sarah.

Lily squinted her eyes at the tall figure where it stood a few feet away from her.

"That's not Sarah," she said in fear. "She doesn't wear dark clothing like that."

The figure whipped around, ripping off her disguise to reveal herself as the true, one and only Sarah.

"Sarah?" Lily asked in confusion.

"It's me."

"Those aren't your clothes! And what are you doing here? It's not safe for you!"

"Why not?"

"Because I said so?" Lily huffed.

"But—"

"No buts. Just go back."

Sarah crossed her arms over her chest, glaring at Lily as she shouted, "Never!"

"Don't be stubborn."

Sarah stuck out her tongue, snapped her finger, and pulled out a purple, glowing portal...
