Elron followed the woman through a whole heep of doorways and corridoors. Scarlet was walking behind him, she seemed to be very nervous. Elron was just angry, very angry.

'I need to get out of here,' he thought, looking up at the roof and walls, 'Dragons are free creatures, we aren't supposed to be like this.'

It was frustrating him so much he actually growled. The woman looked back at him with a frown on her face.

"Is something wrong," she said.

Elron hurridly shook his head. She looked at him with a strange expression, then shrugged. They kept on walking. Elron noticed Scarlet looking at him closely. He looked back, and she blinked.

"Why did you growl?" she said, in the draconic language.

Elron hesitated for a second, "I'm.. well, I guess I'm frustrated."

He was surprised she had actually started talking to him, even if it was an unexpected question. She looked at him with her head tilted.

"Why?" she said.

Elron hesitated again, "Well... I'm just annoyed that we have to live this life, when we could be free."

Scarlet stopped in surprise. She hurried to catch up.

"You still think about freedom?" she said.

Elron was surprised again by the question, "Yes... doesn't everyone."

"Not anymore," she said, looking down at her feet, "I used to think I could be free again, but that was almost five years ago. I gave up, and so have many other dragons."

Elron frowned, "But... why?"

"Because there is no hope, not even one of the earth dragons could pull these things off," said Scarlet, guesturing to the device between her horns, the thing that dragons hate.

"I'm not surprised," said Elron, "I'm stronger then an earth dragon, I even I can't withstand the pain."

"Pain?" said Scarlet, "These things don't hurt."

"They do when you touch them," said Elron.

"No they don't," Scarlet reached up with her tail and hit the device, "See, no pain what so ever."

Elron stared at her in surprise, "No pain?"

"Yep," said Scarlet, "And never has been."

"But, whenever I touch mine it creates a headache so bad I can hardly stand," said Elron.

Scarlet looked at him with surprise, "Well, that's new. They must have put something extra in yours or something."

'Unless,' thought Elron, 'They put the pain there so that I wouldn't be able to pull it out, if there was no pain I probably would have taken it off by now. Yes! that must be it!"

He told Scarlet what he had just realised.

"It could be true," said Scarlet, "But they might have just screwed it on wrong."

Elron shook his head, "They definitly didn't screw it on wrong. I over heard some humans talking about it and they said that even the slightest miscalculation could lead to the dragons death, that or make it crazy."

Scarlet bobbed her head from side to side, "Well, why don't you try now. Just ignore the pain."

Elron widened his eyes, could this girl be serious, "That's impossible. You have no idea how much it hurts, as I said the pain is so intense it almost takes me out cold."

"You might just think that," said Scarlet, "Just try it, and instead of thinking about the pain try to think about something else, like your desire to get free, or your anger at the humans, anything to get your mind of the pain."

"Well... I could try," said Elron.

He reached up with his tail and touched it, slightly. He winced as the pain shot through his head.

'Okay, just ignore the pain,' he thought.

He went up to touch it again but was stopped when the woman shouted at him.

"Hey! Stop playing with that," she said, "We don't want it damaged now would we?"

Elron started at the human, 'Stupid human.'

"Okay," she said, "Here we are, the breading rooms, your home for the rest of your lives. You will get out to do missions and all that, and you metal guy will get out often, but other then that you are to stay here. They send you out for exercise and stuff every now and then, and they feed you three times a day. You two are in these stalls, you will be called out when its you time to mate. Don't worry, I'm sure it will be fun."

With that she smiled and walked away. Elron growled at her back. Scarlet looked at him with a strange expression.

"You growl at the humans?" she said.

Elron looked over to her and nodded.

"Wow," she said, "You must really be able to resist that thing quite well. Usually it prevents us from growling at humans, even if it is behind there back."

"Wow," said Elron, "I never thought how bad these things are. This one only prevents me from disobeying a direct order, killing humans and speeking english."

Scarlet looked at him, "Yours must be outdated or something, lucky you. Mine does all the things yours does, except with the direct order. It prevents me from interacting with other dragons sometimes, and it can also controls my actions at certain times."

"Mine doesn't control my actions, unless of course I try to do the wrong thing, then it just points me in the 'right' direction, it doesn't control what I do," replied Elron, he was really learning some new stuff here.

Scarlet nodded, "Well then, we better get to our cages, this thing will make me if I don't soon."

Elron nodded and walked into his stable. He found there wasn't his metal nest there, only one created from twigs. He growled in annoyance, it had taken him months to create that nest to perfection. He sighed.

'Better start now,' he thought.

He opened his mouth and let a stream of metal come out. He quickly molded on side of the nest, using his toung to direct the flow. He began to mold that side of the nest, using his wings to cut of peices he didn't want and his breath to add a little bit more. Before long he had created a small portion of the nest, only about as long as his front legs.

'This is going better then I thought,' he thought.

He then began to add little peices on at a time, expanding the nest.

"What are you doing?" said a dragon from behind him.

He looked around to see Scarlet peeking through the metal bars that were between the dragon's stables.

"I'm aah... making a nest," he said.

"Why, there's a perfectly good one over there," she said, guesturing to the one made of twigs.

"I don't like sleeping in twigs," said Elron, "I'm a metal dragon, so I sleep in a metal nest."

"I'm a fire dragon," said Scarlet, "We are supposed to sleep in a bed of ashes."

"Then just burn the twigs to ashes," he said.

"I can't breath my element," said Scarlet, "That's one of the many things the device does."

"I can breath mine," said Elron.

"Really?"

"Yeah, just not at humans or at bad times."

"Wow, you do have a lot more freedom then most dragons."

Elron nodded his head, but just how much freedom.

He continued to build his nest for the rest of the day, occasionally stopping to chat with Scarlet. He had finished about an eight'th of the nest when he heard the sound of his stable door being opened. He looked around to find a scientist standing there.

"Come with me," she said.

Elron looked down at his nest, chopped of a bit at the side, then walked over to the human. She led him through another bunch of corridors.

'Why do humans build do much stuff?" he thought, 'Even I'm lost with all these twists and turns.'

They eventually stopped at a large door. The female scientist pressed a button, opening it. Elron walked through.

"I'll be back once your finished," she said with a smile.

The door closed. Elron looked around to see a female water dragon shivering at the other side of the cage. She was a deep ocean blue with long claws and sharp teeth, she looked scared. She looked up at Elron, and got up on all fours. She took a big breath.

"Let's just get this over with," she said.

She began to turn around.

"Wait!" said Elron, "I'm not going to do anything."

The water dragon tilted her head, "But... the device."

"Doesn't control me," finished Elron.

He then started to feel a pain in his head, he realised what it was.

"But how?" she said.

"I'm different from other dragons," he said, "I can resist, or at least I can try to."

The water dragon shrugged, "Believe that if you will, I'll be waiting."

She walked over to the other side of the cage, and sat down, unmoving, looking straight at Elron. Elron looked back, the device was starting to get more and more painful. At one point he felt like making a move, but he ignored it. Suddenly the pain became intense. He roaredand groped towards the floor, shaking his head. The female looked at him in surprise. Elron was growling, the machine was trying to take over his limbs, but he didn't let it. Eventually he couldn't take it anymore, he let out a defiant roar, and fell to the floo. uncoscious.

He woke up back in his cage. The first thing he realised was the pain in his head. He growled and tried to ignore it. It eventually died away and he was able to get up. He looked around, everything seemed normal enough.

"Elron," said a dragon from behind him.

He looked around to see Scarlet peeking through the bars.

"You're awake!" she said.

Elron bobbed his head, "How long was I out?"

"About an hour," replied Scarlet, "But what happened? They dragged you in here, unconscious. They were joking about how you collapsed from exhaustion."

Elron barked a laugh, "They wish."

"So what did happen?" said Scarlet.

Elron looked over to her, and smiled, "I resisted."

He told her all of what happened and by the end she was staring at him with disbeleaf.

"Wow," she said, "You really must be a strong dragon to be able to survive that."

Elron smiled.

"Well, we better get some sleep," she said, "You're on a mission tomorrow, and you'll want your rest."

Elron nodded. The two went to lay in there nests. Since Elron hadn't finished his, he decided to sleep in the stick nest, which he found very uncomfortable. He couldn't get to sleep, and found himself thinking about the day he had been in.

'I hate this,' he thought, 'I don't want to faint every time I go into one of those rooms. I would prefer to faint then mate with a female I don't know, but one day I'll break, and when I do I don't no what will happen. I need to get rid of this thing.'

He turned the tip of his tail into a claw, like what a robot's hand usually looks like. He hesitantly reached up to the device, and touched it. The headache was immiediate, and he flinched.

'Ignore the pain Elron,' he thought, 'Focus on other things.'

He started to think of the humans, and how much he hated being controlled. He focused on the fact that if he did this he would be free, free from these beings. He growled as his hatred began to grow. Without hesitatetion he grabbed the device, and pulled. The pain shot through his head and down his neck. He growled, then roared, but kept pulling.

Elron heard Scarlet wake up and walk over to the side of the cage, but Elron ignored everything, the only thing he focused on was his desire to get rid of the thing on his head. He roared again and spread his wings, but kept pulling.

Eventually he couldn't handle anymore. He collapsed to the ground, a small amount of blood trickled down his head. The las thing he was aware of was the fact that his mind didn't feel so heavy. He fell unconscious.

Scarlet watched as the dragon fell. She cried in shock when she saw the blood. Human's came rushing in, wondering what had just happened. They saw the unconscous dragon and opened up the cage, rushing towards him.

One of them bent down, and checked his pulse. Once they were sure he was still alive he sighed in releaf.

"Don't worry anybody," he said, "It's alright, the dragon probably just had a bad dream or something."

The humans laughed and one by one they walked out of the stable, but they missed something. If they had looked closely, they would have seen that the contolling device on Elron's head was tipped slightly on an angle, slightly loosened.
