Percy's P.O.V

The wind rustled my feathers as I flew steadily in the direction of Yellowstone Park. After a while I got tired and landed on a branch. I thought of me being a human and suddenly I felt my bones grow and my feathers sink back into my skin. I stood up ahead balanced on the branch and then jumped down. I felt good and at peace. I held out my palm and concentrated. I small flame flickered from my fingertip. I grinned excitedly. I gathered some wood and made a small fire using my new powers.

'What is your new name, son?' I heard Hera's, I mean, moms voice in my head. I thought for a moment.

'Monos.' I thought to her. She didn't reply. Monos means alone in Greek. I sat by the fire and decided to try some more new powers. I thought of a hamburger and suddenly there it was. I ate it and sat against a tree contentedly. I climbed a tree and lay down on a thick, burly branch. Stomach full and mind at peace, I fell asleep quickly.

I woke with a start, hearing something snap from beneath the tree I was in. I looked down and saw nothing. I heard another snap. I look all around, eyes searching for anything. Another snap. And closer. It sounded like something big and heavy. Something big and furry walked into my little campsite. My breath caught in my throat as the creature was illuminated by the dying embers of the fire. It was a giant wolf.
