A Poet's Journey

(How Far Can You Go?)

By Fox-Trot-9

March / Nove Otto: Insomnia

Night after night, I wait for her

To soothe my weary nerves and stir

   These thoughts into the stuff of dreams;

And yet, such sweet repose denied

Becomes a curse that has me tied,

   Tearing me to bits at the seams!

The only sleep's the sleep of death

For me, once I breathe my last breath

   And quit the silence of my screams.

(To be continued...)

A/N: It's nice to return to this poetry form for this collection... I've written over a hundred nove otto, and it has become one of my favorite poetic forms... ( ^_^ ) Anyway, nove otto is a poetic form invented by Scott J. Alcorn, consisting of 9 lines of 8 syllables each, rhymed aacbbcddc, though I do allow for some syllabic variation as long as it is consistent... But that's just my observation with the form... Not sure what Mr. Alcorn would say, though...

Edit: Thought I'd change the last line... "agony of screams" doesn't quite make sense...
