May's POV

After leaving Leaf alone to head to the food table, I found myself eating different assortments of food. Ones that I hadn't eaten since the fall of my kingdom. I glanced to my left to see Misty dancing with prince Ash and she actually seemed to be enjoying herself. I knew Dawn was also watching them as I saw her spying from the corner of the ballroom with sharp eyes. I could already see her cheering to herself in satisfaction.

As I finished eating some pasta, I felt someone approaching me but I didn't move anyway.

"May?" A familiar voice questioned from behind me causing me to spin around in surprise as no one but the girls knew my name, except for one person.

"B-Brendan!" I stuttered as I looked at the prince in recognition.

"May! It really is you." He exclaimed cheerfully and I nodded uncertainly.

"Where have you been all this time? I thought you were gone!? You know, we've all been worried sick after we found out about your kingdom. And your family too." He spoke rapidly making me stare at him, dumbfounded. He continued. "You don't know how much our family has missed your visits. I miss my old friend! So much has happened since you've been gone!" He exclaimed and before I knew what was happening, he wrapped me in an extremely tight hug.

"Uh Yeah I've missed you too." I said awkwardly and winced as his hug tightened then he finally let go.

For a few more long minutes, he continued to rant about what life has been like at his own kingdom which was now being overrun by a different kingdom of some sort and I was surprised that he wasn't concerned about it. He told me about his experiences in this kingdom and began ranting on about how much his parents missed me as well.

"So May, how's it been not being known as a princess?" He asked after taking a breath from all his ranting.

"Better than Royal life." He stared at me questioningly but I shrugged it off and continued to speak. "Please, Whatever you do, don't tell anyone I'm a princess." I pleaded my old friend who looked at me in concern.

"Why?" He asked me curiously, forgetting about my previous statement.

"I don't want to be seen differently. It'll be odd." I explained and felt the urge to move away from Brendan.

"So, where have you been all this time?" He repeated his question and I felt suddenly pressured. He was looking at me expectantly as though he were desperate to know and I just gazed into his eyes uncertainly. "Well?"

Before I could speak, my words became lost in my mouth as I felt someone glaring holes into my head. I quickly uttered a small apology to Brendan and excused myself to look back at the boy who was burning my head with his glares. Gosh I wonder who it is?

"What is it, greenie?" I asked the boy, more like Prince who continued to glare at me like I was his worst enemy. I wouldn't admit it, but I was kind of glad that he saved me there. But I could feel his fury on me which didn't make it better.

"Prince Andrew, you were interrupting us." Brendan spoke seriously as though our conversation was the most important one in the world. I almost screamed in irritation but I stopped when I saw Prince Andrew turn to face Brendan instead of me. His glare turned from normal to furious making Brendan back away slightly.

"What's up with the glaring?" He questioned his fellow prince who continued to stare him down.

Brendan realised something then began to creep away, his eyes wide in fear.

"I'll talk to you later May!" He exclaimed before hurrying off into the crowd of people who were dancing.

I furrowed my eyebrows in confusion and then glanced back at the greenheaded prince and my mouth turned to the shape of an 'o' as I realised what was happening. Drew's glare had turned from glare to scowl which looked terrifying and would cause anyone to cower in fear. I began shifting my feet awkwardly as Drew continued to stare at me for the longest of time.

"It's you!" He snarled suddenly making me jump slightly in surprise and scratch my head sheepishly. I guess he remembered me. "The tree branch girl!" He exclaimed after a few silent moments making me sweatdrop.

I've definitely made a reputation with that.

"That would be me." I confirmed and attempted to walk away and find my friends but was stopped by a hand.

"You're not going anywhere missy." Drew announced and began smirking at me. "You owe me for that incident."

"You know it's not exactly my fault that I didn't know who you were!" I said defensively only to stop when he gave me a stern look and I sighed. "What would I need to owe you?" I questioned feeing slightly frightened at what my consequences would be.

"I would've dared you to simply dance with me but life isn't simple so we have to go for the complex. I have better plans. I need you to prank someone for me in revenge for something he did earlier this week." He told me with an evil smirk plastered on his face. "And since I don't want to get into trouble, I want someone else to do it for me."

I mouthed 'who' and he pointed to a guy with spiky brown hair who I recognised. He was dancing with Leaf happily and I almost awed out loud.

"You mean the Gerald guy right?" I asked and Drew burst out laughing.

"I guess you could call him that. Now let's begin the dare." He said and rubbed his hands together mischievously.

Before we moved, I stopped him to ask a question. "What exactly did prince Gary do to you?" I asked Drew who scrunched his face up in disgust.

"He put worms in my cereal because I beat him in a sparring session." Drew shuddered at the memory and I stuck out my tongue, feeling queasy.

We both took a few deep breaths before nodding at each other. We snuck our way out of the ballroom and I took off my flats as soon as we entered another room. I breathed out in relief as I felt the blood rush back to my feet which had been squeezed tightly in the shoes. They weren't even heels.

"You know, the dance could've been a better idea than this." I told Drew who was grabbing a bunch of stuff off these shelves in the room. "This is bound to be troublesome."

"But it's going to be worth it." Prince Andrew said and flicked his hair in a charming way.

It took me a moment to realise what I had just thought. I did not just think of that as charming.

"Do you like what you see?" He teased me as I forgot I was still staring at him and I rolled my eyes then shook my head. "But you won't stop staring."

"I was thinking." I defended myself. But hey, it was true though.

"I'll totally believe you." He said sarcastically and picked up a few small bottles and examined them closely. "Perfect."

"What is it?" I asked an moved closer to him. "Hair dye?" I questioned with a raised eyebrow.

"Exactly that, um..." he trailed off and looked at me expectantly and I got what he was asking.

"May. My name's May." I told him and he nodded before continuing to speak.

"Well then May, you've gotten the hair dye so let's move on and find those containers of shampoo. Shall we go?" He asked and handed me the small bottles which I took from his hands.

I followed him through the maze of a castle until we finally reached an area with several smaller doors to the ones that were everywhere throughout the building.

"This is Gary's room." Drew whispered to me before pointing at one of the doors.

Before we could sneak in, we heard footsteps from around the corner making Drew curse under his breath. He shoved me into a different doorway from where our target was and I fell to the ground of that room in surprise but managed to keep a firm grip on the dye in my hands. Drew shut the door immediately and we pressed our ears against it, listening to the footsteps on the other side where we had just been walking.

"Remind me again why we're sneaking through a building of which you live in?" I asked the prince after the footsteps quieted and I sat up on the ground, adjusting my dress.

"Because if we get caught by any of the maids, they'll tell Iris and we'll both be dead." He explained and I raised an eyebrow. He seemed to understand and spoke again. "Iris is the head maid for our kingdom and she basically supervises us. She's also in charge of our punishments from now on so that means trouble."

"A maid with power...I think I like her." I said thoughtfully.

"Whatever. Let's go." He said and helped me to my feet before leading me out the door and into Gary's room which was unlocked. "Typical Gary to leave his own room unlocked."

"What's the plan Prince Andrew?" I asked Drew who raised an eyebrow at me.

"Drop the formalities and just call me Drew." He paused then gestured for me to follow him into what seemed to be Gary's bathroom.

I followed him and gazed in wonder at the size of the bathroom.

"No time for admiring. We have to get this done quickly before my father realises I'm gone." Drew commanded and ushered me to come closer.

I obeyed him as he instructed me on what I needed to do and I did it as fast as I could. I poured out all of Gary's shampoo down the drain and replaced it with hair dye. I dripped something else into the substance which would drench his hair and make it droop instead of the usual spikiness. I was doing this for a few minutes and after awhile, I realised I had been left alone. Drew was nowhere in sight. Alone in a place I was unfamiliar with. I was alone in a princes room, pranking him just because I owed someone something. Gosh darn that grasshead. He's so going to get it when I find him again.

I scowled to myself and picked up the hair dye in my hands, careful not to drop any of the bottles. I dumped them in some paper towels and chucked them into the bin so it wouldn't be so obvious of what I'd done. I hurried out of the room and silently closed the door behind me. As I attempted to sneak back to the ballroom, I heard someone call out to me from behind.

"Excuse me miss, you shouldn't be out of the ballroom." A stern voice said making me turn around.

It was a maid and she had extremely long purple hair that reached way below her waistline. I stared at her for a moment then realised she was waiting for an answer.

"I'm so sorry! I needed to go to the bathroom and I ended up getting lost after taking the wrong directions. I'm very sorry for intruding." I apologised sincerely and dipped my head to her. "Could you please escort me back to the ballroom?" I requested politely.

The maid thought for a moment before nodding in agreement and bringing me back to where I had started. Now it was time to find that treetop and beat him to a pulp. More like beat him to a shrub. I said a small thank you to the maid who just nodded and walked away and then re-entered the ballroom, out for revenge. I saw a familiar face then grabbed their shoulders angrily.

"You!" I yelled in his face. Surprisingly no one looked our way since they were all too caught up in dancing with each other. "Where's that greenheaded moron that goes by the name Prince Andrew?" I screeched in the poor boys face.

"M-May! Calm down." Brendan stuttered and forcefully took my hands away from his shoulders. "Drew went that way." He said while looking at me with wide, fearful eyes.

"He's so dead." I heard Brendan whimper as I huffed and followed his directions on the search for the grasshead.

After a few more moments, I finally found the prince who was calmly talking to Dawn and a guy with purple hair who I recognised as Paul. Paul noticed me first and shot me a cold glare and I just ignored him as I grabbed Drew angrily by the shoulders. Dawn looked at me questioningly then looked at my expression and she nodded in understanding.

"If she's looking at you like that, you certainly are dead." Dawn told Drew before patting his back and walking away with Paul following her who kept glaring at me. I assume he also remembers the tree branch incident.

Drew just smirked at me before casually asking, "So, how did it go?" As though I wasn't about to murder him in front of everyone.

"Why did you leave me there?!" I yelled in his face and he shrunk back in surprise. Guess he wasn't expecting that tone of voice.

"I had to...before my father found out I was gone." He yelped as I whacked him hard on the arm as I didn't want to damage him too much.

"You could've just said so! This maid found me in the hallways after you left me." I told him and his eyes widened.

"Which maid?" He asked with a gulp.

"Long purple hair-" Before I could continue he gasped.

"That would be Iris."

"What's so bad about her finding me? She bought my lie..." I stopped as I looked at Drew's horrified expression.

"No one could've made it passed the guards without help from a Royal them self...I'm definitely dead after this." He said and gulped again. "She's going to give me a week long of Royal duties!"

"How would she know that it was you that brought me out of there?" I asked him and he then let out a breath of air he had been holding.

"Now that you mention it, that would be true." He said then began to smirk again. "Can't wait to see how Gary wakes up tomorrow."

"You should tell me about it." I said and he looked at me curiously.

"If only I knew where you lived I would." He said and looked at me as though I would just tell him.

"Yeah that's not happening after that little stunt you pulled." I said and scowled at him as I remembered what he'd just done.

He looked at me with pleading eyes, which looked adorable as his emerald eyes glistened in the chandelier light. Wait, stop it May. That's not adorable. It's childish.

"Nope." I said and looked away before I actually told him where we lived.

For awhile, we just kind of stood there in a comfortable silence as we watched others enjoying themselves.

I glanced at Drew who was staring at me then I sighed.

"You want to dance as well?" I asked him and he smirked at me.

"I thought you'd never ask." He said before offering his hand to me. "I knew you couldn't resist me." He added which irritated the hell out of me but I took his hand anyway as he lead me to the dance floor.

"Anyone could resist you, grasshead." I muttered under my breath and he just continued to smirk at me even though I knew he'd heard me.

But deep down, I felt like I was lying to myself.
